Default What is your toddlers favourite toy?

I'm after some ideas for christmas. DS1 will be 2.5 and DS2 will be 1.5. DH complains about them having too many toys that just clutter up the house and don't "do" much so I'm looking for something that will appeal to both of them and keep them happy for (hopefully) years to come.

What toys do your toddlers love?

BTW, DS1 is terrified of toys that make whirring sounds and move on their own (eg: remote control cars) as I found out after giving him his birthday present last week!

Duplo? With duplo trains & track (buy it 2nd hand on ebay, much cheaper that way and usually in very good condition).

Or start wooden train track and the Thomas or other brand trains that run on wooden track (you don't need to buy Thomas branded track, there are lots of different ones out there ... even the starter kit from Kmart is pretty good amazingly). We started wooden train track with our ds at 2. Over time it's great cause you can add to it and duplicates on things don't matter. Initially you'll be the one setting up the track and helping them move the trains but with time that changes and it's great to see the changes.

That was definitely the toy that my ds played with the most and at 6.5 he still plays with it and our 21mo dd likes it too.

Most don't agree with that so his electric quad, Thomas remote control train, Thomas torch, remote control card, blocks, crafts, chalkboard.. Heaps of things at the moment.
