January....hang in there, Monday will give you the answers. Wishing for time to quickly pass. Hope it is good news. You are in my thoughts...Hugs xx

AFM...from our 15 eggs we have 8 that fertilised overnight. How quickly the numbers fall but grateful for what we have. Hoping they grow between now and Monday when we get the 3 day update.

    hope you are all well.....

January - you have big hugs coming your way. I really feel for you - it's so tough. The chart that Rainbowchaser put on here is very helpful for showing that you shouldn't go out and down 8 tequila shots at a sushi bar yet, so try not to give up yet, if you can help it. I wish I could bring you a tub of ice cream.

BJ04 – That’s AMAZING!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!! And don’t worry about the number not quite doubling – it looks like it’s right there – just two tiny points off. I’ll be thinking of you on Tuesday and I totally know what you mean by cautiously happy. I’m there with you.

Abundance – I wouldn’t hesitate to go by myself - I actually think it would be pretty safe.

Sh72 – good luck with your appointment on Monday! Sunny, you too!

Crystal – thinking of you – hope you’re hanging in there!!

January, on a note you made days ago - You’re so sweet. I actually made an involuntary noise (something like 'gack') when you mentioned twins. It’s the only thing that scares me more than not actually having a successful pregnancy. On the topic of… Nicole – that was lovely of you – Thank you! I’m looking at your numbers and I’m definitely nervous that mine are higher. Maybe it’s just one very strong singleton… My scan is booked for this coming Friday but I’m nervous that it might be a tad early. I’ll freak out if there’s no heart beat visible because it’s premature, so I might call and delay it by a few days. When did you get your scan?

Missleo – sorry about the cat! I’ve read an awful lot on the subject the last few days and it seems pretty unlikely given that she was a house cat. Oh my goodness, your 12 day twins beta is 4 points off mine. Aye yi yi.

Rainbow – hahaha – sage advice! I’m trying to remain sane. I have to consciously not obsess over stupid stuff – worry is where I go, as a habit, and I have to start shaking that pdq. So Jodi, don’t worry that you set me off - I was already going to panic over something. Thanks, btw, for the organic hair dye idea – I’m not sure if henna will work on my hair without making it bright orange so I’ll try the organic route.

Thanks, Laned! I laughed about your worries without having a cat – I’m in the same boat! I did however clean my brother’s cats’ litters just after I got back from SA, though I was careful. That’s what made me freak.

btw, Rainbow – I looked up B&Bs and hotels on TripAdvisor and found it to be very on-the-nose. I would pick one of the top ones for an area and stay there and I was never disappointed. And don’t worry about not having everything booked. Off season makes it easy – we booked a place the week before for our first few nights there (near the clinic) and then after that we literally just booked on the day of and had no problems at all.

    Sunny – great results!!! Woohoooo!

Donna – 8 is great!! I’ll be crossing fingers and toes that they grow like gangbusters for you. (Grow embies, grow!)

Sootymay – FABULOUS NEWS!!!!! Congrats on finding your donor!! I hadn't heard of that agency - are they based in CT?

Anait – glad you’re having fun. I actually loved doing this so far away – enforced relaxation.

Hope I didn't miss anyone - thinking of you all and hoping you're all well.

Good morning wonderful women of the forum,

Rainbowchaser, Pixel, Abundance1, BJ04, AllieOop & DJSHEARS - thank you so much for all your kind words and support Only on here do you feel understood as we all go through the highs and lows of our journeys. I am normally very stoic and not prone to tears easily, but reading your comments brought me to tears. Good tears not bad

AllieOop - Yes I think a strong chance of twins for you my love

DJSHEARS - 8 fertilized is great as you know from my experience the focus is on quality. I hope you have 8 x 8 cells by Monday

BJ04 - A wise decision to only put one back

A few things I found when googling:

    - HCG levels 5 - 25 could indicate late implantation, ectopic or chemical.

    - HCG levels are lower with a male fetus!

    - 75% of chemical pregnancies are due to embryo issues.

    - 25% of chemical pregnancies are due to uterine issues including immune issues.

Signing off now, finally feeling more human and am heading out to lunch with friends Tomorrow I should know for sure and then start planning our next and last attempt.

Hope you are all going well wherever you are on the journey

    Hi ladies

Had an awesome day on safari and happen to run into Anait...lovely day...had a champagne drink stop and more drinks at lunch, with a toast that it be the last alcohol for us for 9 months, especially for Anait as it will be ET for her tomorrow.

Im little worried at the moment...started spotting in the last couple of hours...did this happen to anone? I emailed Dr W and he answered back almost immediately and its sunday night!! He will check me out first thing in the morning.

Off to bed..big day tomorrow...donor EPU!!!

TIP: Anyone coming to Cape Town in the next 4 weeks, the cable car to Table Mountain is closed for yearly maintenance from 22 July to 25 August.

Allieoopn - Yes ababysa I think are based in CT or nearby? I was recommended them through Vitalab Clinic (JBurg) when I was asking some questions of the clinic - initially we thought we may have to go to JBurg as there were alot of donors there we liked and we couldn't afford to pay travel costs on top for a travelling donor. I'm so glad we came back to CFC / Dr H, as that is where my heart says to go and have learnt from this wonderful forum that they are the bees knees!. Until then I hadn't heard of them either, even though they are on CFC's recommended agencies that they use (how I missed that I will never know!) Apparently Vitalab is a very good clinic and CFC sometimes uses them to work with their donor;, pre-screening tests etc, so they must be good! ababysa were excellent, emailing me further information on donors, how they felt on a scale of 1-4 how if they looked like me (not that that was overly important, but it was helpful at the time..... funny though, we ended up selecting a donor that looks nothing like me - so go figure!!!) Age, high egg numbers (we have sperm issues as well) previous donation and a child of their own (if possible) and good family history were important to us etc, ... their website was also really good to use.

Can I ask a quick question of everyone (I'll also do some Google research today) - for payment, we wanted to use our Credit Card, for Qantas points... but the agency said the following: (how did you ladies that have paid already pay? I don't mind doing it this way, but really wanted to get those Qantas points for help towards paying for the flights, and of course when we pay CFC their initial deposit - its a fair number of points we are talking about!
Regarding payment, because of exchange control regulations we can't use cc transactions - perhaps you could pay your local bank with the card to do a forex transaction - METHODS OF PAYMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL CLIENTS

South Africa has Exchange control regulations in place (we cannot freely send or receive funds in or out of the country without restrictions) and so the government tries to identify all transactions by asking for administrative information about you and your bank.
The Financial Intelligence Act (“FICA”), means that you will have to register with our local online payment gateway “Monsterpay” before using it. Alternatively, you could do a normal Forex transaction at your local bank: detail on your invoice.

    Morning girls,

I found out Saturday its a BFN for us, we went out yesterday just to keep our minds off of it for a day and I feel good today

We're going to speak with Dr.M on Aug 8th and find out if there truly is any immunology issues and our plan is to head back to CFC in January and have one final try.

January, I'm thinking of you today

I'll be back later, I've got to get the kids off
