    Default Endometriosis

    Hello,

Just need some help/ recommendations/ suggestions... but first some background about me (warning.. could be tmi for some)...

About 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I had a huge endometrioma on one ovary and this was removed via laparatomy. The surgeon may have mentioned that my bowel was involved but I was not given much information about this and since I didn't even know I had the disease at that time (the specialist kept referring to it as an ovarian cyst, and I was not advised it was an endometrioma until later). After surgery, I was put on some pills and was asked to do a follow up ultrasound after about 3 months. I did it about 4.5 months later and the cyst was back and over 5cm! Anyway, went to some specialists who wanted to operate but the trauma of the recent surgery was too fresh and I just didn't want to have surgery again. So have been trying natural treatments which have helped to some extent but have not reduced the size of the cyst. In the meanwhile I have been monitoring the size of the cyst at regular intervals.

Had an ultrasound today and the cyst has grown very large. I haven't seen my GP yet as she is away but will be seeing her next week. I've mentally started preparing myself for another surgery . I feel very depressed and disillusioned as this is not something I want to do, but feel like I don't have a choice.

I moved to Brisbane a few years ago and don't have a gyn here. Is anyone able to recommend any gyns based in Brisbane who specialise in endometriosis surgery via laproscopy? I really don't want to go through a laparatomy again!

Also, I am now in my early thirties and would like to have a baby but I feel so lost and confused about everything. I also suspect I have developed vaginismus....

Sorry for the tmi and the depressing post.. I've been on an emotional roller coaster for the last few years and I suppose I just want to vent! I would appreciate some recommendations about gyns based in Brisbane. Any natural therapy treatments would also be welcome.

    Thank you in advance.

Sorry that you are going through this must be scary knowing it has grown so large
If you don't mind driving down to the Gold Coast then I highly recommend Dr Alwyn Dunn he's at Pindara private hospital.

I recommend Dr David Hill at Wickham Tce Spring Hill. When I was in my early 20's (10 years ago) i went in for a laparoscopy with Dr Gino Pecoraro.... Who is now president of the AMA (wouldn't recommend him anyway)... They diagnosed me with endo - found on my cervix. I have since seen David Hill for gyn and my 2 pregnancies. My sister goes to him too and is happy with him.

i know surgery isn't fun - but I say get it sorted and get onto baby making if that's what you want.

    Hope all goes well

If you call the office of Professor Peter Maher in Melb, they will be able to recommend you someone in Brisbane. He is very high in his field and will know who is good in Brisbane. Good luck, I had similar, had half an ovary removed because of cysts, also had 3 surgeries for extensive stage 4, and went on to conceive naturally twice. You are right to do your research in choosing a surgeon, it will pay off

    Hi Tanya,
I hope you've been able to find a gym that you're happy with in Bris. I saw David Molloy at QFG for my 2 procedures (stage 4 endo).
I have also been able to fall pregnant unassisted, so there's definitely hope there xx
