Any tax buffs out there that can help?
Ok so I get a cents per km mileage allowance paid usually once a week sometimes 2 times per week. It shows up on my payslips as not being taxable. So last year when I entered my tax I called someone from payroll for advice and of course they weren't able to offer proper advice but said if they were entering it into etax they would list it under item 2 for income then claim a deduction.
So this year I get a letter in the mail saying to be careful about deductions so I phoned the tax office for advice and they said it IS taxable and include it at item 2 under income. But they didn't say whether I can balance it off as a deduction.
Im so confused. If I did it incorrectly last year then my tax was wrong. It i don't do it this year then my tax could be wrong or right...
