I always think of Ozzy Ostrich from Hey Hey it's Saturday, not Ozzy Osbourne.
I don't think it's necessarily a bad name though. Will it be a nickname or just Ozzy?

It's actually the traditional spelling, I doubt the parents were trying to be funny or cool. Like Siobhan is the traditional spelling for Shivaun (which IMO looks awful) or Niamh instead of Neve or Sean instead of Shaun. I actually really like Gaelic/Irish traditionally spelt names, I think they look really pretty.

I agree for the most part but its like giving your child an Arabic name, spelt in actual Arabic, and expecting people to be able to read it here. It's another language entirely.

Gaelic names with traditional spelling are more common in Ireland because people can actually decipher them there. Some of the simpler ones are more common here but expecting people to know that Conchobhar spells Connor is setting them up for failure.

ETA sorry the Arabic naming is a pretty poor example because the Arabic languae uses a different alphabet but i think you get what i mean. It's not readable to the average joe here.

    Real Gaelic, or "pretend" Gaelic?
