Just saw a post by mamamia, instead of calling their child Caitlyn they substituted the 'ait' for Roman numerals VIII so her name is spelt Cviiilyn, they felt that it was very 'unique'
It's not a horrible name but makes me cringe - I was talking to someone who named their daughter after something else called Miranda that had meaning to them, but they changed the spelling to Maranda. Why would they change it?!! It had perfectly good spelling and now the child is doomed to a lifetime of having an incorrectly spelt name. All I could say to them was "oh… what a nice name" so I am venting here. As someone actually named Miranda I feel oddly outraged by this
I saw a Deedee-Taylah the other day. As if Deedee wasn't bad enough they had to hyphenate too!
Anyone watch The Voice?... One of the young ladies is Nada-Leigh and they pronounce it Nadalie (Natalie I assume?....).
