Red face The Mater Nth Sydney VS North Shore Private Hospital Sydney???

    Hi

Just seeking opinions between The Mater in North Sydney & North Shore Private? Any personal experiences for birthing and maternity wards there would be appreciated.

Also has anyone used Dr Rod Baber or Dr Gil Burton? Which would you say is best?

    Thanks!

I had all 3 of my babies at NSP.
I loved NSP- the staff and rooms are lovely, but several of my friends were equally pleased with the Mater.
As for those two OB's, no one in my circle of friends has used them, so I can't comment.

Hi there. Had my babies at the Mater and it was fantastic! I also have friends who delivered at NSP and they had no complaints so I think you can't go wrong. Have you been on hospital tours of both? That might help make up your mind. Friends (and girls in my MG) have had both those doctors and only have good things to say about them. All the best! :-)

So, Bebedayz, which doc & hospital did you end up picking? I am in the similar dilemma too with 2 shortlisted obs: Dr Michael Van Der Griend @ NSP and Dr Steven Tan @ Mater. Michael has leave booked in Jan but back a month before my due date but I am not too sure if I am comfortable with my obs away on my last trimester though I have heard so much good comments about him. Steven on the other hand, has no leave book at all and also have quite a few positive reviews online.

I'm more inclined with NSP just because there is a public hospital next door in case something goes wrong. Heard lovely things about Mater too so also can't decide.

Anyone has any comments on which obs to choose?

I've heard good things about Gil Burton. I've had friends deliver at both and sing praises but I've chosen NSP over Mater purely on the basis that god forbid bubby needs it there is a NICU right next door at NSH rather than having to wait for an ambo to come to Mater to collect.

I'm seeing Steven Tan, if you have any questions.

I had my DS at the Mater and loved it. I chose it over NSP as the parking is much cheaper and easier, silly reason I know but they are both great. I've had heaps of friends go to NSP and they've been very happy so I don't think you can very wrong.
My OB is Stephen Morris, he's fantastic but expensive and doesn't have the best bedside manner. I totally trust him though and he's always totally amazing in a crisis.
Had a friend who used Dr Burton and they weren't happy but I know a lot of other people love him.
You could go and meet a couple of the doctors if you're not sure before you decide.
    Good luck
