Default **trigger warning** 11 yr old Pregnant after rape- denied abortion

    http://www.news.com.au/world-news/pr...-1226675157718

I'm sure we can all agree this is a devastating thing- my question (and its a genuine one) is how can those that are pro-life justify denying this child an abortion and making her continue a pregnancy- the emotional and physical trauma she is facing is, to my mind, enormous. I really do not understand how anyone can deny her a termination?

In this case it's the law. There's no pro-life vs pro-choice debate. It is crap though, especially as it's acknowledged that there is a risk to the mother's life (it feels so wrong to call a child a mother). If she dies in labour will the scumbag who raped her get convicted of murder?

I know it's the law and I agree- its awful. I'm just interested in a pro-life POV-some people have expressed pro life at all costs views on here- I wonder how they can stand by that in this case?

That poor child Even when I considered myself pro life, i still would have said this was disgusting. That little girl's life is at risk, there absolutely should be the option to abort.

But Chile is a poor country, it's likely the mother doesn't have the funds to do that. Where would they go? Given any of the nearby countries are all heavily Catholic influenced it might be difficult to get an abortion anywhere. She's already 14 weeks and I read this story a couple of days ago. Time is crucial.
