I found a downside to it though - while I can credit bubhub with causing me to try so so hard to breast feed DD, it is also because of bubhub that I was so crushed and disappointed by my eventual failure, and that I still feel it 6 years on...

No...not on the big things.... I have developed as a Mum and my experiences and shudder when I think back before kids of the things I used to quote " I would never give in to a child, never use food as a treat"

Unfortantly on bh I see a lot of people "pushing" there beliefs and yes they may be passionate about it and its good to have an open mind but its like a broken record. Like controlled crying/controlled comforting - give me all the "research" you can throw at me, it was a life saver for my oldest and it worked a charm.

What I have probably learnt on bh not what really has changed my mind is that so what if your child is waking at 5am and doesnt eat his dinner etc etc, you ended up having a c-section - he is a beautiful child, he will grow out of it and just enjoy this special time.

I hope BH has given you some comfort (like it has for me) in knowing that you're not a freak, failure or sub-optimum Mum for not being able to breastfeed.

I sure have. Until a few years ago I considered myself pro life. But then having a few polite debates with a member that no longer comes here got the cogs turning. She made some important points to how I see the debate, and while my opinion on the procedure and whether I would have it actually haven't changed, I support the right to choose.

Another is c/s. I had a very traumatic op with my first child and when I first joined BH I simply couldn't comprehend why a women would choose a c/s. But then I read the stories of incontinence, fissures, tearing that never healed. Severe mental issues from vb. And again the cogs turned. For each woman there are valid reasons. I don't have to agree, bc it's not my body.

I'm proud I am able to grow and learn. How boring would life be without personal growth? I also think *sometimes* it shows a very insular view, that you somehow have all the answers. Sure I'm passionate about certain subjects, but I'm always open to having the light bulb moment.

It's important for those with a BF agenda to know that this is so often the effect they have on people. I'm still shocked by what I read sometimes.

Yes, sadly on that topic BH has really worsened the angst I feel.

I never thought I'd type it!! I messaged an offline friend who is also a hubber saying 'WHO AM I?'.

They are enjoying it, it's DD's 4th time today and DS's 3rd, both went happily with no tears, they adore their teachers, DS hides when we come to collect him.

I can relate- on first joining bh all the guilt I had for not bf'ing DD1 came flooding back. I'd suppressed it for years and yeah, it was a bit of a shock. I hope you're better with it now- the best babies, IMO, are the ones with full tummies and happy mummies.
