Default Sex - How long do you need to wait after a D&C?

    Hi everyone

How long after a D&C can you have sex? What did your doctor say?

My doctor said when the bleeding has stopped. However .... We had sex 2.5 weeks after my D&C when I thought my bleeding had stopped. BUT I started bleeding again the next day!!! I'm only spotting so does this matter?

    Thanks :-)

I'm not sure about just a D&C but I had one as well as a LLETZ on my cervix and was told no sex for 6 weeks and then with condoms for another 6 weeks to reduce the chance of infection.

Hi LJ, I'm sorry to hear you had a D&C. From memory I'm fairly confident that the doctor told us no sex for 2 weeks afterwards. We waited the 2 weeks (I didn't feel like it before that time anyway) and I think that I had experienced minor spotting for a little while after...nothing to heavy though.

I'd say just take it easy & as long as there's only spotting & no pain you should be ok. Maybe give it a couple of days in between & see if you get spotting again.

Hugs, I hope the bleeding/spotting stops soon for you.

Thanks everyone. I'm still spotting (it's been three weeks!!!) but I'm hoping I haven't caused an infection! :-)
