Queston: How much do you lose on average per week doing the 500 cals for 2 days per week?

And you can eat pretty much anything for the other 5 days?? (of course within reason but even junk? And still have a loss for that week? )

I've only just started, but am reading the book (the fast diet).
Feast days you can eat whatever you wish. Studies were done with people being encouraged to eat junk on similar fasting diets and the people still lost weight. Advice is of course to eat moderately, and that your taste buds change over time anyway.
The idea of the 500 cal is that it is 1/4 of your usual cal intake. That being said, the following day, people only usually over indulged 25% more, so they were still at a calorie deficit.

I think the amount lost each week changes with how much weight you have to lose, but I believe it is about 500g a week, with no exercise.

Fast diet have a forum as well....

Oh, and weight loss is just the bonus of this diet. It has loads of health benefits - decreased bgl's, decreased cardiac issues, decreased cholesterol. Interesting to see if it works.

I have lost around 15kg since having my last baby and did it with sensible and realistic changes. I learned so much along the way and have implemented changes to my diet that I know I will keep up for life. But while I'm happy with where I'm at right now, I'd still like to drop another 5 and feel like this diet would suit me. I eat quite well but definitely love food and do like the odd, ahem, burger or chocolate and I reckon I have great willpower when I really want to achieve something (quit smoking, drinking and most processed junk for a good 6 months and only recently have had the odd alcoholic drink here and there) so I'm definitely going to look into this!

I've been doing it for 3 weeks now. 2kg down with no exercise. I use myfitnesspal daily to try and reprogram myself to eat the correct foods most of the time. I found finishing off my kids leftovers could equal an extra 500cal a day argh!!

    My observations so far are
    - once I eat I get hungrier so I don't eat lunch. Egg for breakfast and water till dinner. If starving I get a miso soup.
    - morning after fasting I have the runs everytime.

I do work days so I'm not tempted by making kids food all day.

What are some things you eat on the fasting days?
I think I'll try it out this Friday and then eat normally for the weekend and officially start on Monday. My fasting days will be Monday and Wednesday.
I have a feeling I will be more inclined to eat healthier on the non fasting days anyway, just knowing that I'll be in the "zone"

I usually have 1 poached egg on one slice of grainy toast (about 150cal total) then water / packet soup through the day. I found some 70cal souls in woolies the other day (walked around with my phone and myfitnesspal scanning codes looking for low cal food for fast day.
I also use the slendierslim pasta/rice as it's only about 15cal packet with stiffer for dinner. It's smells funny until you rinse it but doesn't have any taste..just takes on taste of meat/sauce but fills you.

Just thought I'd revive this thread. I've been doing 5:2 for a couple of weeks now and have lost around 2kg (unfortunately that was extra weight I put on on holidays, so still a couple more to go!). I have found the fasting days a bit tough and a couple of times have gone a bit over the 500 cal, but getting easier and I'm not over-indulging after - I find I'm actually filling up much quicker the day after a fast day. I definitely feel like this is something I could do long term
