Default Worried lead follicle is too big

Hi there, I'm on my first cycle of IVF, FSH day 8 and on Puregon/Orgalutron, and it's all very new to me!

I had my second scan today and I have 6 follicles - the lead follie is 21.4 and the smallest is only 8.8, all the others are around 11 and 12. I'm really worried that I may have my cycle cancelled as the nurse said this wasn't ideal :-(

Would love to hear from anyone who's been in a similar position?

    Hi MKG....
My first cycle was last month on Gonal-F and Cetrotide. I have PCOS so Gonal-F dosage was fairly low to avoid hyperstimulating.
In saying that - at my second scan on day 9, I had a dominant follie of about 23mm, only a couple hanging around the 10-12mm mark and ALOT less than 10mm. I was warned about potential cycle cancellation and it made me so upset I bawled my eyes out in the parking lot.

They increased my dosage just a little bit and I had two more scans - I ended up stimulating for 13 days in total. By the final scan on day 15 I had just 8 follicles over 15mm and my dominant follie whom I called "boss hog" was 37mm!!! I felt very bloated and uncomfortable by the time of EPU but very relieved that the cycle did not get cancelled.

Did they do bloods etc and adjust your dosage at all?

    Hang in there!!! xx

    Hi Nirok,

Wow, 37mm now that's big, poor you! Good to hear how it progressed for you :-)

Yes, when I heard the nurse say that yesterday I felt like bursting into tears, the hormones have well and truly kicked in so anything can happen at the moment!!

Yes, I had my bloods done yesterday too, I heard from my specialist and he is happy apparently (!!), thinks there's a bit more growing so am staying on meds as is, already on 300 of Puregon. I have blood test and scan again tomorrow (Fri) and they hope egg collection will be Monday....very much hope so as very bloated and uncomfortable, look like I'm pregnant which is very ironic!

Thanks for the info Nirok, has helped calm my stress levels a little!!! How are things progressing for you??!!

Unfortunately the cycle was not successful for me
I ended up with 7 eggs - 5 fertilised. Transferred a 9 cell day 3 but by day 5 none suitable for freezing. I'm on a Clomid cycle now and will be waiting for either July or August for another stim cycle.

Hopefully the others catch up and you can go ahead with your EPU!
