    Default Question on "Parental Leave Pay" and "Family Tax Benefit"

    Stuck in completing "Parental Leave Pay" and "Family Tax Benefit" application/form. My husband has not taken any leaves from work during and after birth so not sure what to enter below :


    In "Return to Work – Employment details" section :


    It asks us to enter :

    Your partner's employment details
    Before taking time off to have a baby or care for a child, did JOHN work?
    - Never worked
    - Previously worked

    -------------
    If I choose "Previously worked" it asks :

    If JOHN previously worked, what date did they cease previous employment? (dd/mm/yyyy)This is a required field
    / /

    What date did JOHN start or return to work? (dd/mm/yyyy)This is a required field
    / /

    -------------
    If I choose " Never worked "
    What date did JOHN start or return to work? (dd/mm/yyyy)

    Upon returning to work, was JOHN working an average of at least 10 hours per week for 4 consecutive weeks?
    Yes No


    Is JOHN self-employed?This is a required field
    Yes No

    Which form are you completing? The 18 week paid parental leave or the 2 weeks dad pay? If its the 18 week, is your partner becoming the primary carer? I filled out the paid leave forms only a few weeks ago and don't recall answering questions like that for my DH (but he isn't the primary carer).

    Here are missing pts :
    - 18 week paid parental leave and Family Tax Benefit
    - my partner is not the primary carer

    So I guess I must have clicked somewhere in form where it points to partner being primary carer?

    Possibly, because the work history of the partner is not relevant for the 18 week paid parental leave. Maybe go back and double check?

    Sure, checking now...

    Is your claim approved now? How many days it takes to get approved after we submit it? How do we upload/send them any supporting docs? Do they ask us to upload/send any supporting docs?

    ok figured out that the above question is part of "Family Tax Benefit" claim

    But if you just submitted 18 week paid parental leave they says .... Information about accessing Parent and Guardian claims and services for Family Tax Benefit will be offered to you when you lodge this claim.

    So I believe you would have also faced the original Q?

    I don't think I'm eligible for Family Tax Benefit, so didn't look at that part.

    It only took a week or so to be approved, but I need to take the birth certificate in as soon after bub is born to actually start the payment. Not sure how long that will take. It didn't ask me for any other documents.

    DH and I have never been registered with centrelink before, so I expected it to take a bit longer, but so far it has all been pretty efficient.
