Didn't go to classes as didn't want to be freaked out I'm so nervous but keep thinking thank goodness for epi. Scared as hell but know I can do it and it's worth it to meet our little girl. I guess she has to come out one way or another I'm also looking forward to getting my body back as feeling nauseous and my sleep is terrible i think i got a hr sleep last night, though will miss those belly kicks and movements. So exciting can't believe though we are all nearing the end of meeting our little ones I Washed all bubs new sheets and muslin wraps today as they smelt weird as they are new. Still need to wash a couple more things and I'm all set

Bindy, I used an EpiNo before DD and hardly tore at all - might be worth looking into.

Bindy....during the stretching that occurs with birth, the pain receptors are not working properly.,,you won't feel it.
secondly, lots and lots of women tear....and the area heals really well...If u follow post delivery care procedures. It was my greatest fear also...so much so that I absolutely sailed through labour and then basically shut shop when transition occurred! But my lil birdy literally flew into this world without my pushing...consequently I tore (3rd degree)... Not only did I not feel it, but I have never had an issue post delivery. Virtually all my friends tore....none with issues.
Try not to let it overwhelm you...enjoy!

I did look into the epi-no but it only stretches to 10cm doesn't it? Our baby's head is apparently massive and an average newborn head is about 34cm in circumference. I did want to give the epi-no a go, but finances are also very tight as we have just finished renos. I hope it works brilliantly for you. I might have another chat to my O&G today about it.

Thanks for the reassurance Nayez. It is following birth and healing that worries me. I have spoken to many women who have actually said that an episi or tear what a major relief of pressure at the time. Some women say they have a lot of nerve damage and issues healing after, especially after a messy tear or an episi too early when thick juicy muscle is cut before the perineum has time to stretch. That is what I'm worried about. I wish I knew nothing about this whole process

It is reassuring to hear that you had no issues after a third deg tear. Did you require physio? Sorry if too personal, but how long did it affect intimacy? Pain or sensation?

Yeah with the EpiNo the aim is to get to about 10cm diameter so that equates to about 31cm circumference. So not much less than the average newborn head. I'm lucky, I got mine free on a clinical trial.

I just bought a EpiNo from the chemist this morning after Hubby and I talking to the woman there. I would much rather do anything possible to reduce the risk of tears and Episiotomy, longer recovery, possible scarring and thickened scar tissue and loss of sensation. I have had 4 Natural vaginal births already, never had tears, Episiotomies or stitches but I was between 16 and 21 years old when my body was a lot more flexible and pliant. The chemist swears by using these, and all the customers that have bought them swear by them too so no harm in trying Hubby is happy to help and sus this all out before his big catching day as well which can not come quick enough now LOL

How is everyone feeling? Is the fear of labor not as great as the uncomfortableness of being pregnant anymore!

I am really looking forward to the birth just so I can get through the night without reflux, heart burn and having to pee every hour. I'm fine with the broken sleep now having a 2 week old puppy I am bottle feeding every 4 hours (was 2 hourly) and she is beautiful!

I hope everyone is resting up as our big days are getting closer Have a great weekend!
