Default Help - 17mth old falls out of cot

yes, my 17mth old DD has fallen out of her cot... twice.... each time has been when its time to go to sleep or after a wakeup. She has been having a wakeful couple of days - up at 4.30 the last 2 days and protesting to going to bed

Today I am that kind of tired where you have to laugh or you'll cry!!!!

Any ideas? Is it time to replace the cot with a bed? Growth/developmental spurt?

I think its time for a bed or a mattress on the floor.

Dd1 was on a single bed from 17mths old.

As soon as ds2 was showing off his climbing skills he went into a toddler bed. I think it would be best for your dd too.

Bugger.. I was hoping that she would be in the cot at least until we had number 2!! Although this is the only place she is demonstrating climbing skills!!! I guess I'm also wondering what is causing her to be so wakeful and to protest going to bed (more than usual)... what time do your LO go to bed? DD is currently 6.30 but am thinking that maybe it should be later.. I am not enjoying the 4.30am start!

She went down to 1 nap a month or so ago and has between 2 & 2.5 hours, then 12 hours at night often straight through.

Have you tried a porta cot?
If not I'd be using a toddler bed or mattress.

Why did you want to keep her in a cot until #2 arrives? I say it's probably a good idea to move her to a bed now, that way you can sort out the getting out of bed issue well before a second comes along. She also won't feel like a sibling has stolen her bed.
