I just listened to the interview and read the transcript.

What disrespectful and completely unprofessional behaviour. I mean REALLY. I know that Sattler has been stood down, and so he should be, but surely he needs to be sacked?!?!?!

Her marital status and her private sexual life have nothing to do with her politics. They have nothing to do with the Labor party. They have nothing to do with the upcoming election.

JG held it together though, I was impressed with how she managed to put him in his place without getting angry. Anybody who says she is "scripted" and "fake" would have to eat their words after that! I doubt that I would have had such decorum if it had been me that was asked such questions!

I agree with PP's. The lack of respect the media and general public have for JG is terrible. This just highlights that.

Do people not realise to whom they are talking?? This is the Prime Minister of our country!! The disrespect she receives from almost every corner is outrageous. Imagine if such questions were put to Tony Abbott!

Yeah, truly vile and yet another embarrassing reflection of Australian media.

What we are seeing in Australia with a female prime minister is the truth, a real life example of what women (particularly women in senior positions) face every day. The constant belittling, sexism/mysogony, and lack of respect. If every female (and male's) eyes aren't opened to this truth now then I throw my arms up and I'm embarrassed to be Australian.

Unfortunately it seems to be the way with the media and politicians in Australia (and in the UK too). The questions were rude and intrusive.

I don't know how we seem to have ended up with this climate where it's okay to personally attack politicians on things like this. Unfortunately it seems to be endemic within parliament too (e.g., Julia calling Joe Hockey a 'fat man'). Not right on any count.

    Vile. Just vile.

Personally, I see this as being part of a kind of anti-woman push back against women who are in roles dominated by men. Such as what has gone down at Defence.

I can't believe the disrespect people have for the PM that goes above and beyond people not liking her policies. People try $hit on her they wouldnt dream of trying on a male politician, even the buffoons like Abbott.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Middle Aged men who grew up in an era where they were supreme and women were in the kitchen are the main offenders. They just don't know how to cope with a woman in power. My dad fits into that brigade: give him a female boss and he couldn't handle it. Fortunately for the females out there he is retired now.

No wonder kids think they can throw sandwiches at the PM. Learning disrespect from the elder generation.

I am a non politics watcher but happened to catch this on the news. Prime minister or not that was not an appropriate question. And does it really matter what sexual orientation the PM's partner is? It's not going to change anything about how they lead our country. Good on Julia for standing up for hairdressers and the generalisation that they must be gay.

What a ridiculous man this Howard Sattler is. If he thought this was a reasonable question to ask, well, I think it's time he is stood down for good. He has lost the plot.

Like her or not, our PM does not deserve the bullying and disrespect that she is being subjected to. It's vile.
