    I would just tell the truth, there is nothing wrong with looking out for your family by making some money off sellling your own things.

    You might find that your SIL agrees with you lol

    What a very rude & cheeky MIL (just like mine!). Like you we've kept all of DS's clothes as we knew we were going to have more kids and it would be better financially for us to keep them just incase we had another boy rather than sell them for a small amount and having to re-buy them later.

    I'd tell your MIL she is welcome to buy a new wardrobe for one or both of your girls in exchange for your ds's clothes but you won't be giving them away.

    My MIL & her sister have a major habit of doing this but as soon as you say they need to provide something in exchange the subject is dropped. It's so cheeky and rude.
