Blotched, your so lucky to be able to plan a home birth! How does your DH feel about it? Mine would flip out majorly. I agree with your thoughts on epi's too, if you are happy to have one that's what they are there for!

Shadow how did you go, I am sending so many positive vibes!

DH agrees completely. We talked about it a bit when TTC...I had always assumed I would have a hospital birth but I started reading birth stories and read a few homebirth stories and it just felt right to me. Talked about my concerns about hospital births with DH and the pros/cons of homebirth and he is pretty happy with the decision. He's met our midwives and gone to a few sessions with them (they run a group private practice and have info nights) and he's more and more convinced its the right thing for us after each one.

The main key is education & understanding the choices you have available to you, I think. Regardless of what you actually choose.

If anyone is thinking of a homebirth its definitely a good idea to track down a private midwife to have a chat about your thoughts & concerns. I've heard of a few ladies who's DHs' aren't very supportive of it but often having a chat with someone knowledgable can clear up a lot of their concerns.

I think you lovely ladies have helped me make a decision about my next birth - will definitely go epi if I have time. Want to avoid theatre if I can and go home!!!
