I've actually never heard of this. Must be very rare. Unless you mean he developed a nodule at the injection site?

I saw you mention this in another thread. Was it like what Atropos has suggested or an actual tumour? Either way I hope your son is completely ok now

I too love a good visual reprisentation too. Really puts in all in perspective. Meld85, I think you guys really are unlucky. I don't know anyone in real life who has had a vaccine reaction. Hope all is well now?

Yeah the children specialist had never seen anything like it either. They gave me another name which dr said basically was childhood tumor. It started out as a solid lump about the size of a pea which 3 GP's a paediatrician and a paediatric surgeon assured me it was a simple growth or scar tissue as it was at the vax site. For some reason his body reacted a few mobths later by pumping fluid there and in about 6 weeks had grown to the size of a golf ball.

He was booked for emergency surgery and two days before it ruptured everywhere (very gross) all that was left was the pea sized growth he started with. Dr got that out and biopsied it and it was non-bacterial, non-cancerous.

Just a one in a million chance his body reacted that way. Didn't happen to any other immunisation just the 4 month one.

I like to tell the story cause allot of people use reactions as a reason not to immunise but I am still very much for it. Yes it was hell and yes he has a scar on his leg but i couldnt handle the idea of him getting a fatal disease that could have been avoided.

although i must admit I will hold my breath a bit more when vaccinating this baby but doc didn't think there was anymore chance it would happen again.
