The child psychologist today thinks DS1 definitely on the spectrum. He went over everything we have written down and was watching DS1. The clinic is based in a home turned into clinic. So there is a small courtyard. DS1 did what he normally does the whole appointment. He was in a repetitive loop. He would open the door walk outside in the courtyard drop a pen pick it up then come back inside( he does this alot but with different scenarios). And repeat over and over. The psychologist tried to distract him a few times but DS1 wouldn't have a bar of it.

Mainly he was just talking to me about DS1. He hasn't given a formal diagnosis as he said he needs to see the peadiatrician and he will give one.

I feel relieved as someone else agrees with us and we aren't just over analyzing

Wow that's quick. I thought it was a long drawn out process to get a diagnosis. My sister felt relieved when her son was diagnosed as finally someone believed her.

This is similar to us. Psych thinks he's on the spectrum - paed thinks he's just a "quirky little guy". Speechie doesn't think spectrum either.

    It's doing my head in!

Typically an accurate dx involves an assessment from a speechy an ot a therapist and a paed.

If one result doesnt match the others, you often will just get a dx of pdd nos.
