I would say I'm not trying to alarm you, but I am. Those sores looks horrible and need more than a barrier cream.

This, exactly. Please take her to emergency
Even if you don't think she needs to be there. Better to be safe than sorry....

Barrier creams won't do anything. You need something more specific. You need to take her to emergency and get proper care for your daughter. I can't believe the doctor was so blasé, this can be a very, very big issue!

I have to agree with the others on this. If that is Herpes, your baby needs anti virals, not barrier cream. Not trying to scare you. But I can't believe a doctor even suggested that

Maybe call health direct /13 health/local hospital and tell them what the doctor has told you to see if they think perhaps you might need a second opinion. Cold sores/herpes can be very dangerous for little babies. It just seems strange that the doctor has suggested a non - medicated barrier cream, rather than a prescription/cold sore cream. I know I would want a second opinion. It doesn't hurt to call and ask just in case there's something more you need to know about how to approach this.

Oh gosh, please please take her to the hospital, i almost lost my ds#2 when he was 6 weeks due to the coldsore virus.

Do not hesitate or worry that you will be treated like an over protective mother at the hospital. It wont happen in this case. Its really serious.
