    Default Inserting Evening Primrose Oil???

Has anyone done it? How much & when did you start? I'm 37weeks & have been taking raspberry leaf tablets for two weeks now & been taking evening primrose oil for a week orally but have heard if you insert it, it can work a bit better/quicker =) thanks!

A friend of mine who is 38w2d will be inserting as of 39 w. she will be home birthing and is under advice of her midwife. As well as taking I think it's called 5w tablets which have things like black cohosh and raspberry leaf in it. Speak to your midwife first though.

With both pregs I started evening primrose orally around 38 weeks and inserting at 40 weeks (well, didn't actually get to insert any with DS2 as he arrived at 39+5, but was going to start at 40 weeks). Middy advised I could start inserting at 39w, but I decided to wait until 40w. When I inserted I did 2 tablets each night before bed, and just put a pad on because in the morning it can come leaking out when you stand up.

I did from 37 weeks, I inserted 3 each night. I didn't go into labour until 40+5 but do believe they helped ripen my cervix. I went from 1cm and thick to 5cm and fully effaced in 2 hours and then had her 2 hours later

    Hi
I used it for a few days and it didn't do anything for me. I also tried the rasberry leaf. But maybe i didn't use it long enough. I walked from 37 weeks... and that was too much so at 38 and a bit and went for acupuncture at a chinese herbalist who very reluctantly did it for me and it worked! my ob was expecting me to be overdue given everyone else in my family was and baby just didnt wanna drop. I did acupuncture 3 times i a week and went into labour..i was 39 +5. I was so happy i didnt have to be induced! Do whatever you are comfortable with.

I inserted two a night from 37 weeks, and didn't labour till 39 weeks.
I had no tearing at all, and feel the evening primrose helped.

Be warned it is a bit messy, you need to wear a pad to help soak up the goop.

Yep, just regular evening primrose oil capsules. You can get them from the supermarket, chemist or health food shop =)
