    Default Croup

My 18mo ds2 has had croup on/off for the last week.

He was on the redipred for 3 days which worked but now it's come back. I don't want to pump him full of steroids again for 3 days.

We will go back to the dr tomorrow but can anyone shed some light On what our next course of action will be.

It's not full blown croup but he is still sounding a bit husky when he breathes so hence why in a bit worried.

And yes I do know to take him to the ED if it gets worse over night

My ds2 gets croup all the time especially when there's a lot of moisture in the air. It can actually be allergy related as well. We have a preventative inhaler for him but were looking into getting vent onlin for when its already there to open the airways. We've only once needed to take him to hospital for it as he had a fever and it was really severe. Most of the time it fades away as the day goes on.

My suggestion is to look into inhalers to help a little.

Thanks. My older boy has ventolin but I don't want to give it to ds2 without medical advice coz he's only 18 months old. But now that you've planted the seed I'll ask about it tomorrow. Cheers.

We got it on prescription for him so I don't think you will have any dramas, it can also be linked to asthma as well
