Oh no Nattie . I'm so very sorry you received such devastating news . I can only imagine how you must be feeling right now...

Those results are so unexpected for a couple your age. I just can't believe all 5 were abnormal . Please keep in mind what I said in an earlier post about the day 3 biopsy giving false results sometimes due to the tiny sample they take (1 cell). Mosaicism is very common in human embryos, I researched a LOT of medical journals and they all convinced me that day 5 biospy was more reliable due to the larger sample removed for PGD.

If you're not ready to give up, talk to your FS and see what he thinks. There is a chance you could have a very different outcome with day 5 biopsies in a future cycle. Your clinic should allow you to "batch" embryos from back-to-back stim cycles so you can get 2 lots worth of blastocysts and PGD them together to save costs.

i don't think our clinic does that our FS was pretty confident that the results were almost 100% accurate.

i don't think I can go through all the time and money etc to change clinics now. Which clinic are u with again? Sorry.

Oh nattie I'm so sorry sweety! I really thought you had nothing to worry about today 😥 is there a possibility of doing pgd on day 5 like Simpson? Just to get a better test sample or something? I've got no idea what else to say, except I truly am sorry you're going through this...

I'm with Genea. I totally understand if you feel emotionally exhausted Nattie. I just wanted to throw it out there because those results are not the be all and end all. Sure they are accurate based on the sample the lab took... but was the sample truly representative? Your FS cannot guarantee that every cell in the embryo was identical to the cell they removed for the test. Embryos area such dynamic little things and errors do occur in early cell division, some of which self-correct later on. If you like I can email you some scientific articles, just PM your email address to me.

Take all the time you need to process everything, its been a tough day for you xo

thanjs so much but the embryos were so abnormal I doubt that testing at day 5 would make any difference... I will PM you my email address anyway as I guess it's worth having a look. I feel like I am in limbo land cause I don't wanna give up but I also don't wanna waste any more time on this if its hopeless and face the facts.

Nattie your news is so sad. I'm so sorry this cycle ended this way. I don't know much about all this so please ignore my ignorance, i just find it hard to believe that all future embryo's will be abnormal. Was it just a really bad cycle? Could another clinic offer a glimmer of hope? (particularly when you aren't ready to give up) do you know if it is the egg or the sperm? (do you have family that could donate?) I have a friend who has an 80% chance of passing on a severe genetic abnormality to her children but they fell pregnant and their baby is fine, surely there has to be some chance.

    I'm thinking of you xxx
