Default Hats & Sunglasses for kids

I as a person who needs to wear sunglasses or cant handle the glare as I am so use to wearing them, felt it only right that my son wore them too....... SO often though I see parent with them on or a hat, and have their kids out in the sun with no protection at all......

So I wanted to see how many parents make their kids wear them, or try too cos persistance is the key,and young eyes are easily damaged by the sun......

So I am adding a poll hopefully it works......

My daughter wouldn't keep sunglasses on, it was ok when she was under 3 months or so, but as soon as she was able to control her hands, she would just rip them off her face. Same with hats. Same with piggytails, same with headbands, same with anything like that.
But she got better about it at about age 3, and now at school of course they wear hats every day, and I have bought her about 10 pairs of sunnies because she keeps losing them ....
But DS is good, I have a pair of sunnies for him and he's happy to wear them, it's cute though because he takes them off when we go inside He wears his hats too. And it's worked out well, I didn't go walking much with DD but I go every day with DS, so really he needs it more than she did.

I agree, persistance really is the key..It takes a bit sometimes but its worth it! Its so important to protect thier little eyes and skin, espically now that the affects of the sun is worse now then it was 10 years ago.

Hey, DD was exactly the same, it took her a fair while to accept it. I ended up just giving them too her in the car, or when she was in the pram. She ended up figuring out how to put them on, and now she loves them. Perhaps would could try wearing sunnies in the car or on walks so she can see that you wear them too?

I TRY keeping DS's hat on. Talk about mission impossible! Although when he gets a little bit older and understands more, it will be a defiante rule!

We just stay out of the sun now between 9 & 2.

Cobes always has a hat on when we're out and about. He didn't really like them at first but he's come to accept it

I want to get him a pair of sunnies... I was thinking of babybanz as they have the whole strap thingie.

DS has always been happy to wear a hat and sunnies...sunnies from about 6mths when I finally found somewhere to buy the Babybanz ones, they were pretty hard to find a few yrs ago. Now he wont go outside without his hat, not even to check the mail. If we are going in the car or walking somewhere he always asks for his sunnies too.

DD was ok with hats & sunnies til she was about 8 or 9mths, since then she has prefered to throw the sunnies on the ground/floor of the car and pull her hat off to chew on it
Big Brother ~ 7yrs...wishes he was 10 LOL

Baby Brother ~ way closer to 2yrs than I'd like.
