It depends in what areas you are talking about.

Success at life? That would be achieving everything you wanted to in life, and being happy.

My success would be different to another persons, and we can all be successful in different aspects, but not others.

I asked this question as DP and I were having a "discussion" on what it means and takes for one to be happy.,I asked him what it would take for him to be happy. His exact words were "a new car and to get the f out of this area, and a job that I can be successful in".

I'm not arguing his definition of happiness or success or even his character. it got me thinking what success means to everyone.

For me success is having my family around me and for them to be happy and healthy and have at the very least the basics in life. I don't believe we need to have the best of everything, or that we need to keep up with the Jones's.

To me, success is achieving something you worked hard for.

Happiness, in all that you want in your life.

You don't have to be the best, you just have to make yourself happy, whether it's career wise, financially or in regards to family matters.

to be interpreted in any way you want. the meaning of success is different to everyone. For some it is to do with how much someone earns, what they have and what they do with their life. For others it might be to not live in a third world country. Or it could be somewhere in between, or none of the above.

the answers given are so interesting. I know people who define success by how much they possess and I know others that define success by being able to put food on the table every night with their very tight budget, and yet they come from the same parents with the same upbringing.

    It is interesting.

Without going in to it too much, I'd consider myself quite successful at my age, but my parents don't, because I don't have a degree or career and had a child at 18. It just goes to show that different people measure success in different ways that are important to them.
