If you find scantily clad people (eg. the abundance of females that go around in bikinis on H&A) remind you of prostitutes and pron stars, then I'm truly perplexed. I spend a lot of time on the beach, so I guess that's why it's never even crossed my mind that scantily clad people must = prostitutes and pron stars.

When I see a young teenage girl wearing next to nothing I think 9/10 times they are doing it for attention and enticement (to stand out and grab the boys attention etc).

Similar motives to porn stars, but I agree different context.

You know who has the body to wear something like that? Anyone who has the shoulders to hold up the straps. That's it. Being thin, young and toned grants you no more rights than a fatter older person has.

The whole idea that being young and thin makes it okay to do things you'd protest a fat person doing is just vile IMO.
I'm a very big advocate for people being allowed to wear what ever they feel comfortable wearing without being put down for it, I even said it in this thread!
The thing I don't get, is why it's ok for certain people to show off their cleavage, but someone like me who has nice legs can't show them off? That its 'nasty' 's*anky' 'tacky' 'cheap' etc etc etc. I believe it's all in the same basket of eggs.

My niece wears short dresses a tad longer than this.
At a party she held, she bent over to get something from an esky, in front of my husband and I. She bent from the hips.
I wish she had bent with her knees, because I truly didn't need to cop an eye full of her bright orange knickers.
    She is 22.
If you have great legs and want to show them off, no problem. My problem is when I see your knickers. Otherwise wear whatever you want.

Also, I do believe that the quality of the fabric and cut can make people come out with different judgements.

The only answer I have to this is I don't agree. I wear short skirts /tight clothes whatever at times. Usually my reasoning is that it's summer, or I find it easier to move or something. Eg. I'm likely to wear tight tops at work, as I do a lot of arm movements when working and I bend over my patients, I hate bulk of clothes, and while the shape of my boobs show in tight tops, my patients don't get a gawk down my top if it's tighter. I prefer to wear either stretchy tight pants or a short skirt (not as short as in the pic - I have "office short" skirts) with tights on the bottom as they allow freedom of movement.

Never assume you know why someone is wearing what they are wearing. Sure some girls think if they wear less they'll get more attention from boys, but, by the same token, I see many girls get more attention as they've got a nicely cut dress which doesn't reveal much or a shapeless t or whatever.

I'm still thinking my understanding of fashion and pron stars / prostitutes is very different to yours.

I really am struggling to get my head around seeing someone wear a particular type of clothing on home and away as in the same realm as the motive of pron.

Motives to wear different clothes are different for different people.

When we lived coastal I thought nothing of people walking around in something like that. Now where I live, the ones you see dressed in ultra short things or barely covering their nipples are generally the trashy ones around town. And before anyone thinks I'm basing that opinion simply on what they're dressed in I'll say I'm not. They're usually wandering around the shopping centres or CBD with vile language spilling out of their mouths or it's obvious in other ways.

The other thing I see far too often is people wearing skirts and shorts that are about 3 sizes too small, under the belly roll with a tight top. Bit like this. No body looks good in things clearly too small.

The ultra mini can look ok in some cases but I'm yet to see one in this town (but saw a few when looking for the photo above).

I don't think anything of it tbh untill now. but mind you we are only 26 so it might be a bot different if you were 40

I will also add will live in the shire 9k fro the beach so it might be a bit different to being somewhere like banks town.
We are the same here. Plus being in Perth, in summer, the less I wear, the better. It's just more comfortable? Plus hanging around the pool most days, I want something easy to slip on if someone knocks on the door or I'm going out the front/to the park/shops.
My neighbour yesterday was gardening in short shorts and singlet. The horror!

The sun was out here in Brisbane today and I was gardening in my undies and a singlet. I started in trackys and a jumper but as it got hotter I just stripped off. Didn't want to go inside and get the floor dirty looking for other clothes. (I'm inner city and there's not much of a view into my yard but if the neighbours really wanted to gawk they could I guess).
Question for all the judgey mc fudgys.... Are just lack of clothes sk**ky or are tatts sk**ky too? What about men with no shirts? Kids in no shoes? Do you think women that wear glasses are nerdy? Do you think women that wear "sensible" clothes are boring so and so's?..... It all seems a little far fetched and ridiculous to me.

I thought that until I got to 40, and realised that I'm more confident in my figure than I was at 20. (I do actually wear a smaller size now, but that should be irrelevant).

However, I'm perplexed Rarity -I'm in Perth too, but while I wore a t-shirt yesterday - I also wore jeans, wasn't sure it was warm enough for shorts. Might have had something to do with the fact that I went to the movies and always get cold in the cinema

Can I ask your age? I dont mean to be rude ...My comments about girls dressing scantily in order to attract the opposite sex were quite specific to the young teenage age. I agree the older someone gets the more they dress/act for comfort and practically rather than to pull a fellow.

My comparison with porn and the scantily clad young girl on home and away: both are dressed for the purpose of creating sexual attraction. Merchandising of the product so to speak.
