    FX Nezz!

AFM, i had the follow up. Does anybody know if there is a FS here in Perth who can test NK cell? I read an old thread (2011) which says no and going to sydney is the only choice. I wonder if thing has changed since then. Very difficult to be on this side of the country.

    Hi,
Yes I did a biopsy in October, he checked for nk cells. Prof hart brought it up after a few failed transfers of good quality cgh tested embryos. I don't actually have a high level of nk cells which is good, and after the uterus scratch, I got pregnant the following month with a cgh tested frozen embryo. I am now 11 weeks.
We Are extremely happy with that clinic and prof hart. All the best to you.

Hi Perth Ladies... I am new here but not new to IVF. I have just started to explore the possibility of NK testing and thought I had to over east to get it done and have actually had phone consult with Dr Gavin Sacks from IVF Australia in Sydney as I thought it was my only option. So Bethesda does it!, that would be much easier for me.

Lillaa - Hi! I was jut wondering, did you have t take a cycle off do the NK testing? Also did you have to do it at a certain time of the month?

    Thanks Ladies :-)

MrsEmilyS: I am so glad to hear Lilaa's answer! It seems like the climate has changed here in Perth. The old thread on Iolanda's website seems to suggest that nobody does it here and nobody seems interested in the topic or believe it. I almost want to take this topic offline but I find it hard to get information about this NK cell testing and auto-immu issue locally. The high NK cells thread is dominated by the patients of Dr. Sacks and Dr. Matthias (both highly regard specialists in sydney). I hope the questions and answers here might help future Perth ladies.

What's your outcome with Dr. Sacks phone consult? Interesting...the old thread also said that Dr. Sacks didn't do phone consult. Did he push you to cycle over east? or Is he willing to consult on your NK cells or auto-immu issue and let you continue to cycle here? I am with IVFA so I have to go back out east for transfering my last DH biological embie. I am grateful that my FS isn't letting any thing to chance given our circumstance. It would be convenient to do all these testings locally.

As far as I read, you do have to do the NK biopsy during luteal phase, day 22 something like that. I am not sure if you need to take a cycle off. Perhaps Lillaa can answer.

bbhope: Its about time something changed over here, I felt like I was living in the dark ages! I agree it would be good to get that post taken down as that's where I had seen the info previously and thought east was my only option.

Well when I spoke to Dr Sacks assistant she said he usually liked face to face consults but that it wasn't practical so was happy to arrange a phone consult. He gave me quite a few suggestions, he told me to get my AMH tested ASAP. All the FS here had said there was no point. I got it tested and it has come back quite low for my age - 5.4. I know there are ladies with lower but I think its still low for my age. He told me to go over ad have a uterine biopsy an blood test for NK cells and said he likes to do it about 5-7days after I ovulate. I don't cycle naturally which is a problem, I need stimulation, however they told me they cant test with ivf drugs in my system. He said clomid maybe be a possibility but I am pretty unpredictable on it, sometimes I don't ovulate.
He did encourage me to then go over there and do a cycle with CGH. My husband wasn't keen though because they do the genetic testing on Day 3 where as Hollywood do it on Day 5 when there are ore cells and he is more comfortable with that.

I might book an app with Dr Hart and see what he says. I did my first two cycles with FSWA Bethesda but changed after a bad experience there. I wasn't seeing Prof Hart mind you.

How are you finding travelling over there? I feel like I am struggling to take all this time off work as it is never mind having to travel over east. I hope this last one is the one. I have heard so many stories about people falling pregnant with the last one! I am always joking with my FS that the one i'll fall pregnant with is the Day 6 lower grade one they keep leaving in the freezer. Whn is your transfer? Good Luck

Yes it has to be at a certain time. Well the biopsy / endo scratch was done under general anaestesia at about day 21 of cycle 1, then had my fet during cycle 2. You get better implantation in a cycle following an endo scratch so it was important to do it then. The thing is we did not get the results of the biopsy until the last day of cycle 2, we actually got them on the same day as my positive pregnancy test.
