I'm doing HRT cycle so start with Progynova three times a day, then day 10 I start prednisalone, and depending on bloods may have estrogen pessaries too. Last cycle I had two a day. Then bloods and scan every few days, if lining isn't thickening then they add the combo pessaries. A few days before transfer they change to progesterone only and continue them for a few after transfer. On my last cycle I continued the combo and progesterone pessaries together. Was on 5 a day all up. I transferred a 5 day blastie on about day 21. This time around they are adding Verapamil a few days before and a few days after transfer. Apparently it held to prevent cramping which can reject the embie.
    Hope that helps!!

Hi all, sorry, i have been MIA. We just have to go through a lot of hard decisions. It is more complicated than just the IVF. I am not sure if thos is the right place to ask. Does anyone here have gone through the entire donor process in Perth (ie, actually got to seeing the list)? Please PM me. Thanks.

    Hi BB
They don't actually give you a list to look at and certainly not at this stage. Once you reach the top of the waiting list, Liz will send you a number of profiles to look at and choose from. Some donors of course will have a preference for who their donation goes to, ie for women like me, if the donor didn't want single women to have their donation, Liz wouldn't send you those profiles.

Generally when a donor has been recruited and been through the counselling and cooling-off periods. Their donation is taken and then quarantined for 6 months. They will generally wait until a set number are ready to come out of quarantine and then offer a choice to those who are top of the waiting list.

The profiles you are sent to choose from have fairly basic information such as hair, eye colour, height, nationality, any profession. Information like that. Sometimes there is a more comprehensive profile which includes some non-identifying personal information such as favourite books, hobbies etc.

From experience you will be offered 2-4 profiles to choose from. I had 3 but I know another Perth single woman recently was only offered a choice between 2. There aren't many donors in Perth so you won't have much choice here unfortunately.

Good luck with moving forward. If you have a look at some of the US sperm banks online there will be some sample profiles. They are fairly similar to what Concept will show you. Liz should be able to tell you how many before you on the waiting list. Generally they will go by how long you have to wait rather than a number and I have found that to be fairly accurate. If it is a large number or a long time, Liz may avoid answering the question as she hates to give information that may discourage you.

    You can do this BB!

I waited for 1.5 years on the donor list here in Perth. I got referred to IVFA in Sydney in Feb this year, and I have just returned from finishing my first cycle using donor sperm. Currently 4dp 5dt. I reached the top of the donor list in May, so 4 months waiting! I had a choice of over 15 donors.... If you don't mind the additional costs of airfares and accommodation, get a referral to Sydney ASAP. I did everything here in Perth, just flew over for a week for egg collection and transfer. Good luck!

Net, thanks. Basically, the post has just encouraged everyone to travel interstate if they dont want to wait. I doubt that the demand is lower in the east and hence shorter wait. It must be something to do with the access of sperm bank.

Things have changed a bit since last week. We are putting everything on hold at the moment, mainly due to financial issue (we dont have medicare and PHI only kicks in for IVF next april), unless another issue comes up and pushes us to proceed as soon as possible. Thus, a year waiting period is fine. We need to mentally and psychologically prepare for this. It is not one person decision. As much as i would love to be a mother, i want DH to be OK with it.

thanks Kel, wish u the best of luck. Spanner how did EPU go? Going ok on the Dhea, I was suffering from a few headaches but cant be sure its from that, apart from that skin slightly more oily but cant say I have many side affects which is good. We had our FS apt, once I start AF we will be booking in for IVF , our new plan will be that I will be on a higher dose from 200 to 250 and Ill be trying the synarel spray this time around, they will also add calcium to the eggs to hopefully help fert rates. Sorry to hear things are on hold for you bbhope, wish u all the best and hope that whatever you decide things go great for you.
