Don't give up Net! Sorry to hear that nothing was working out. Note: I used past tense and hope things are working out for you now!
Hi all, hope you all dont mind me joining in, I am also from Perth. congrats on the new bubs, how precious r they
My dh and I have just gone through our 1st failed IVF with ICSI through a fertility centre south of perth, had ER 2 wks wed, the following day we found out that none of the 4 eggs fertilised . They took 8 eggs however only 4 were mature.
Waiting to see specialist again later this month, will try again in maybe 2-3 mths, sure has taken a toll on us , our main reason for having to do IVF is due to dh's very low count.
Im sorry to hear that Booboo78
We'll be doing PICSI (one step further than ICSI) in a few weels time due to MFI (low sperm count) I didnt think that even with ICSI it was possible to get a zero fert rate, I figured it was a given with all the extra step! So Im thankful to have found your post, guess Im a little more prepared!
I guess you don't know why yet since you havent seen your FS but maybe PICSI is something they can do for you?
Ive only recently heard about PICSI, I found it odd too with zero fert rate with ICSI. One of my f/b IVF groups I heard of a lady who had 20 eggs and none fertilised When they called they really couldnt give us a reason, they just mentioned it could have just been bad luck, also due to the fact we could only try with 4. It could have been the sperm or my eggs, wish I knew.
Gl btw, hope u get your BFP
Good luck Booboo and wish. Zero fertilisation does happen unfortunately. I heard of someone recently who'd previously had great fertilisation rates who got 1 fertilised out of 20 eggs. A great shock. There's no rhyme or reason to some of these things.
Love the pics of the red beanie babies. They are incredibly precious. Congrats to the amazing new families. Reminds me of the saying that when a baby is born, so is a mother!
BB I'm far from giving up hope. Just looking at my options at the moment and trying to work out what to do. The WA system is incredibly frustrating. Kind of beyond nanny state really. I'm going to call the technology council tomorrow and ask them exactly where in the legislation it states that an FS cant help you cycle overseas. I'm pretty sure it isn't in there. Ideally, I'd love to get Aussie scripts so I can get the meds under Medicare. They are going to be really expensive otherwise. I have had one international pharmacy email me back with a query. I'm hoping their quote isn't too bad and that they are a possible second option if I can't get an Australian script. If all else fails I do the whole cycle in Barbados, which will be a lot more expensive.
Best wishes to everyone else in their journeys.
