We have a little pop up tent thing from kmart (you can get them from ikea too)
we call it the "princess house", we have put a big fluffy blanket and a heap of pillows and some books... Dd loves playing in there... and often falls asleep for her day nap in it

If you can get a hold of a wooden play table with sides they can be so versatile. Can be used for trains, cars, lego, animal play scenes (just add some branch pieces and pebbles etc), wooden blocks, and well too many other things to mention. If the kids are little you can rotate it weekly/fortnightly and if they are a bit older they can choose what to use the table for and when.

We have a dress up box, a canvass tee pee and one of those little kids wooden tables with two chairs , we painted the top with chalk board paint and drilled plastic cups full of chalk in two corners at the leg. I also have a ball pool. We don't have room for a playroom so I get things out like this on a rainy day .

I always loved blackboards as a kid....you could just buy blackboard paint and paint a section of your wall...no "board" required these days...and you can but it in amazing colours, not just black...oh, I'm getting excited about it myself

We've got a chaise lounge set up for a reading corner, toy box, costumes, a see saw lol and did have a plastic cubby house but they broke it.
Same with their plastic table and chairs lol.
I love that idea with the wooden table and blackboard paint!

A recent addition to the kids play room is a dress up box. DF made it, it's like a small wardrobe on wheels that has mirrors on the side. The kids can dress up and then look at themselves.
