    Default Emla cream/patches

Has anyone used emla cream it patches before their tiny tots vaccinations? DS is going for his 12mth needles next week and I am worried he will cry more this time!

I've seen kids scream more when the emla patch is taken off (like ripping off a big bandaid) than they did when they vacc went in. I honestly don't think it is worth it at 12 months - he isn't going to remember it and you'll be able to settle him with a feed or a cuddle afterwards

I tried it but they fell off. so waste of money. i'd give him nurofen 30 mins before and give him some warm milk after in his pram and a comfort toy.

Hi, I am a paeds nurse and unfortunately the Emla patch doesnt work for intramuscular injections, so will have no benefit. I have given many injections but breaks my heart seeing my little one jabbed. It only hurts for the split second and then it's over. Lots of distraction, cuddles and a special treat in order I think. Good luck
