Hi, regarding Gwyneth I found she barely gets to work before 2pm so 9pm is more like 5pm! I find her disorganised as well, but it's true the results are amazing for most.
Regarding gp's I find them very different. One refused to do blood tests recommended by a naturopath (but didn't suggest any alternative tests for infertility). My current one is great and explains things and is happy to order blood tests.

Hi everyone im wondering if any of you with high NK cells can tell me if never getting sick I.e. a good immune system is a sign that you could have NK cells? I NEVER have colds or the flu & im wondering if this could be a symptom? Thanks

I have the exact same question. I too have a very high immunity and very rarely/ ever get sick. I have wondered since having a couple of failed IVF cycles if my body is seeing the embryos as somethign foreign and attacking/ killing them off. What do I need to say to my new FS to get her to investigate this??

    Hi Everyone

Timetoshine- yay for feeling movement! I'm dreaming of that day myself. I did take snacks with me for the infusion, thanks for the advice. The dinner was very early, came at 5.10pm this time. Hope all goes well with your infusion this coming weekend.

Stillhope- bummer about the dex side effects. Not much we can do though except put up with them, because the end result will be worth it. I did find that after switching to pred some things were better, especially sleep.

Sootymay- I know it can be frustrating having to chase up, but overall I find Gwyneth does come through when it counts and she never minds a friendly follow-up call. I hope your phone consult goes well!

MGC- I had a similar experience with my first FS when I originally wanted more testing done. She was clearly out of her depth when presented with my list and rather than admit she wasn't familiar or not an expert, she made me feel dumb for even asking. I changed clinics very quickly after that. Your FS should definitely know how to manage the ANA results, its a well-known clotting factor associated with miscarriage. I don't know if it requires treatment at your levels, but prepare yourself for the possibility of being put on clexane.

Cappy- I'm really sorry you find yourself here after so many losses . As timetoshine said, the Alan Beer book is a great read and there's bound to be something in there that resonates with you. Don't be surprised if your FS does not support testing for immune issues, but even if they do then it may not be as comprehensive as what Dr Matthias does. I recommend getting your testing and treatment plan through Dr M.

Nidulhaine- fantastic to hear you are back on your feet and the bleeding has stopped! Good luck with the new blood test for T21. I'm not planning on doing it, we did CGH testing on our embryos so I'll just stick with the usual 12wk screening tests. That really made me furious that some Drs say such awful things about Dr M, he is giving us the opposite of false hope... he is giving us sticky babies!! I too heard from the nurses that Dr M has been ostracised by his peers for his treatment methods. Well he sure is showing them with his success rates!

Hummingbird & Sharlee- I am one of those people who never gets sick. I do believe it is related to my auto immune issues, my body is so hostile it won't let anything foreign take up residence. I've had 2 colds in the last 5 years, both times caught after overseas travel where I went from one temp extreme to another. Other than that I am super healthy all the time. Even if my DH brings home a cold/flu or gastro, I never catch it from him. If you want NK testing, ask your FS directly and be firm about it. Just be aware that some FS don't believe in NK cells or immune issues and will try and convince you to keep trying and waiting for the 'right embryo'. If I were in your shoes, I'd get the testing done by Dr M. My second FS was one of the good ones and did the NK biopsy for me, but there were other issues that weren't picked up until I saw Dr M.

AFM- I just had my 2nd intralipid infusion on Sunday and another BT on Tuesday. My hcg levels have risen nicely to 25451 (30dpo) and P4 is OK at 103. My next appointment with Dr M will be Oct 29th. I'm 6w4d today and having my first ultrasound next Tues 24/9 (I'll be 7w2d). Fingers crossed we see a heartbeat

Cappy - I'm so sorry to hear that, it's so disappointing isnt it. But you're on the right path now that you've found this forum, I stumbled across it too and am so grateful for all the wonderful ladies stories on here, its priceless information.

Nidhulane - fancy your Dr's reactions... oh dear, it makes me feel pretty vulnerable and small sometimes when they carry on... and frustrated & peed off to say the least! Congratulations on been 10 weeks, that's wonderful and I'm sure so magical for you

Simpson Desert, thx for the thoughts on my phone consult and congratulations to you too. Its lovely to read all your ladies pregnancy successes and journeys.

AFM - I had my phone apt with Dr Matthias today... I had emailed him my NK Cell biopsy report (which was taken in the 2nd half of my cycle when an embryo would be implanting) - my FS here was actually happy to do it, which was a relief as I thought he may say he saw no need for it.

So..........my so called "slightly elevated NK Cells" - in the words of my FS here.... are actually very high - CD57+ is 66/mm2 (apparently under 5 is normal) and CD56+ at 1317/mm2 - is very high too (I didn't ask him what the level on that should be, as didn't want to hold him up too much!!!!... and also I have TOTAL faith in what he says.. and it's all because of this thread... I don't need to question him, my heart says just run with it... I'm SO VERY THANKFUL that I found this thread and Dr M.

I don't know what those numbers mean and am happy to be guided by Dr M. He is going to order more blood tests to shed some more light on what may be going on and email the tests to me (I assume darling Gwyneth will be in charge of that?!... she really is quite approachable, just not on the ball ...)

He was really very nice & said not to stress we had plenty of time before 5 November departure. He did say I would probably be wasting our money by trying IVF without treatment as they were so high. So there you go, I'm really glad I stumbled on the NK Cell thread and found Dr M's name here (I told him that's where I found out about him and how wonderful all the ladies thought he was, he was most humble and thanked me for passing that on to him. Nice man from my initial reaction).

I did have a small pang of regret that I didn't find out more about this 3-4 years ago when my eggs were better (and yet I had been on the "Colarado treatment" with Dr Burmeister at Monash - she had me on 25mg Pres, Astrix to thin the blood (Clexane later) & antibiotics and est. patches.... not sure what Dr M's treatment will be, so will be interested to see what he thinks and whether it will need to be more.

DH asked if wanted to cancel and try again with my own eggs. But you know what, I don't.... not for the risk at my age to the baby & the emotional energy needed - I'm really quite over it. This path feels so right now, and I'm happy to be in this place in my heart.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone and all the information on here...... it really is such a blessing to have found this thread. Thank you. xx

Dear Sootymay, I'm sooooo happy for you that you found out so great valid information!! Well, you know what I mean with great. It's a pity that we have it, but finally we know why things don't work out how they suppose to work out. I feel like you, what a pity that I didn't find out about NKC and autoimmune diseases earlier, but I thought it was pretty new about their findings. But then dr. M was trained by dr Beer and does that since tens of years. Hmmm, so not sure. I thought I'm very lucky to have found him now, just in the last second before its really really too late. :-)
good luck and all the best for your new findings!!! Can't wait to see your BFP soon

Sootymay- I too am forever grateful that Helenmac started this forum and got everyone talking about Dr M. So pleased to hear your phone consult went well and good luck with the BTs to come. Dr M is a lovely man and most definitely humble.

Stillhope- do have a date when you start stimming again? I'm so excited for your cycle to begin and another BFP added to our list!

Kiwi- You must have started BTs by now for your natural cycle? I hope your body behaves and does its thing on time!

Flowers- where are things up to with you? Are you planning a cycle anytime soon?

Nat and Bella- so truly grateful to you both for pushing me to go see Dr M. I honestly thought my FS was quite proactive and had covered all bases, but RI is most definitely a specialised field and only Dr M has that expertise in Australia. Thanks to you 2 lovely angels, I now have my very own Dr M miracle bubba on the way .

    Hi to everyone else

AFM- Had my scan today and we saw our little blob! Measurements were perfect for 7wks 2days and heartbeat was 147 . So relieved we passed this milestone and I can relax a little now. Really excited now that we can start telling our families and close friends . Also feeling less guilty about all the food I've been eating now I know I really am growing a baby!
