    Default Conceiving after egg donation

I have recently been looking into egg donation.
It breaks my heart reading stories about couples who have been trying for so long but cannot have a child on their own.
I have a 2 year old son and would like another child in another 2-3 years.
My question is why do you need to have completed your own family before considering egg donation?
I have read that egg donation can have no effects on conceiving your own children after so I am a bit confused.
I am 25 and would like to look at donating while I am young for the best chance at success.
has anyone had their own children after donating? What are the risks?

What an amazing and generous woman you are. I think that the clinics prefer the donor to have finished her family due to the rare and unlikely event of complications. You could give an ivf clinic such as genea a call, they will give you all the information you need.
Good luck and i hope you can help someone soon.

    Hi,
Clinics do say they prefer donors to have completed their families before donating just in case something was to happen during the procedure, that effected you to have more children. I guess it is their way of covering everything. However the risks are so small.
I have donated my eggs without completing my family, I also know woman who have donated and then gone on to have more children of their own.
It really is a wonderful experience. If you want to know more I encourage you to join Egg Donation Australia Forum, they also have a private FB group

My sister donated to me when her 1st DS was 1 year old. She fell pregnant with her 2nd DS the cycle after she donated to us with no complications. In fact she was warned her fertility may be heightened due to the IVF drugs. No-one had any concerns about her donating to me from a medical point of view, although we did discuss all scenarios that could occur during the implications counselling.
