Default Sharp pain / pinching pain in cervix

Wow I got the worst pain today. It was like a sharp long pinch in my cervix and I was at the shops and I had to stop walking until it passed. Any one felt this and had an explanation of what it is?

I get this all the time! It's like a sharp shooting pain. I've been having it recently nearly everyday this week on and off. Im guessing its just our bodies getting ready for the big thing. I'm 30 weeks.

CC - I think we are symptom buddies! I was literally googling this yesterday. I'm 36 weeks today and it's started the last few days. It's not BH's for me - I get those too! I suspect it may have to do with baby engaging more and pushing into my cervix, he was 1/5 2 weeks ago and I have a check up tomorrow so will report back and let you know what the midwife says.

Do you you know what your having? Maybe our symptoms are a gender thing haha. I'm having a girl
I've got a scan tomorrow! I can't wait and would love to know how she's laying. How do they know how far engaged you are? By scans or feeling?

A boy this time - so not a gender thing! They tell by feeling your belly and how much of bub's head they can still feel above the pelvic rim. I'd imagine they can see in ultrasound as well, they might also be able to see if your cervix has started thinning or not - that could also explain the pains. Hope the scan goes great and bub's growing on track.

Hope the scan's gone well. I saw the OB today as the MW was off sick but he said I was still 1/5 engaged and checked no UTI that could be causing the sharp pains. He said, having ruled out an infection that it will just be one of those joyful discomforts of getting closer to my date!

Scan went well. They said she's just slightly above average size but nothing to worry about so that was good to hear when you have GD and everyone tells u that means big babies! Not surprised its just another lil pregnancy related discomfort! Most of the time it is hey!

Great news bub's measuring well. I've got a 'proper' scan next week, my OB did one in his rooms last week and my bub also measured just above average. So will be interesting to see what the official scan says. However I didn't have GD with DD and she was born measuring above average too - no small babies here GD or not!

Ahh, more sufferers of 'cervix lightning' - I also get 'v@gina lightning'. Both stop me in my tracks! I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and I agree with Stretched that it's probably when bub moves down. It is DEFINITELY one of my least favourite parts of pregnancy!
