Had brown discharge since Monday then yesterday, it's like I've got my period. Not heavy bleeding, but definitely bleeding & very minor cramping, if any. Nothing clot like has passed. Pregnancy symptoms gone, no longer feel pregnant. I've had hcg blood taken again yesterday, should get results today, and also had one last week which came back at 370 so fairly low. Dr was originally concerned this wasn't viable or could be ectopic, so I'm not completely shocked this has happened. Also we had a scan done at 5wks to check on my fibroids & they couldn't find any pregnancy, no sac nothing. They put it down to being too early. Wondering now if this has just been a chemical pregnancy all along??

So I'm wondering if someone could tell me what I should be doing next? I've tried to get back in to see my doctor today (Friday) but next available is Thursday. Is that ok or should I be seeing someone before then?

I've already got a dating scan booked in for Wednesday next week, which I guess will turn into a confirmation of mc scan

I know that mc is usually a wait & see process. But is there anything else you can suggest that I should be doing at this stage? Anything I should know or be aware of?

Also can someone tell me a bit about having a d&c? Is it performed under a general? What is the recovery like? What are the risks? How long will they let you wait for natural until you have to have one? Is there a medication option? I guess these are questions for my doctor but until I can get in to see her, my mind can't stop thinking!

    Thanks
Ok lots of questions In there. I'm sorry you are going through this. Next - it's just a bit of a wait and see approach... If you bleed very heavily - eg. Two pads an hour (I think this is it) then go to hospital. Otherwise just wait and see. I mc at 12 weeks (7 week pregnancy) and just waited it out.

D&c I decided against it as had read about ashermans syndrome and being my first I didn't want to risk scarring my uterus unless absolutely necessary (it is only a small risk )

Default Miscarriage & loss support chat #4

I stayed at home for my mc. My sac was size of 6 w and lost it at 9w
Once the red blood has started, then it's happening.
I had period blood for 7 days
Then 3 days of heavy blood- that's when I lost the sac. (Roundish, blue/black colour )
Anything red that looks like liver is lining
Once the sac came out the red blood stopped within two days
I made sure I took heaps of iron
The hcg on a poas went neg around a week after losing sac . (When brown stopped)
If the blood loss is really concerning you, then you need to head to ed.
I never had a scan after mc
We buried the sac in our garden

Sorry to hear this, however don't give up hope, as I know people who have spotted and bleed in pregnant and everything been ok!
A scan will definitely confirm if your mc or not.

I had a missed cm and decided to have a DC to get it over and done with. It was a quick procedure. Day surgery. It's done under general, you go to sleep, wake up and hour or so later and then home usually two hours or so after surgery. To rest and recuperate. I went for a cd as I wanted to ensure there was no dead tissue left in my uterus as I wanted to try again.

    Hope this helps. Stay strong

@Snooze I'm so sorry you have to go through. It's the worse feeling. I had aD&C as it was a mmc at 12 weeks. Found no heartbeat. D&C was relatively easy. Went under General then woke up an hour later. Easy procedure. No pain nothing. Didn't even need pain killer. To be honest I didn't do research on pros and cons of D&C. I trusted my ob. But I would suggest for you to research and pick the method you are most comfortable with. Either way it sucks. I hope you are ok.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. It doesn't sound like it's necessarily a miscarriage to me, although Wednesday's scan will rule out an ectopic pregnancy which is what I call 'hurdle one'.

I had a d&c last August. It was done under a general with no pain. I felt physically like myself again the next day. D&c does have some risks but I think these are rare and can be mitigated if you have an experienced surgeon who you trust.

Hope you don't need it though xx

    And I'm back again

God this hurts. Almost three weeks ago we turned up for to 19 week scan to be told the growth pattern was abnormal. Amnio results and genetic tests were clear however, a scan two weeks later made it clear there was something terribly wrong with our little man. A second opinion said the same thing. No diagnosis could be made.

We have chosen to terminate and I will be induced tomorrow. My heart is breaking. I'm so scared.

So sorry to hear @Sally1981. We lost our little boy 4 weeks ago at 18 weeks. We got to spend time with our boy and named him and had photos taken. I was not induced as i went into labour due to a placental abruption so cant give advice but will be thinking of you xx
