I still wouldn't do it, I would go to a shelter or live in my car before I would prostitute myself.

Not saying they shouldn't try or that the only option is protitution or stripping..

But, its not a matter of walking into Coles and demanding a night fill job to stack shelves And getting one.. Coles and majority of the other night filling places take the long way round to hire those staff and staff are in abundance.. Why hire you at $23+ an hour ( who in some cases have got no work experience in the field) when 18 year old Sally with a little bit of retail experience working at HJ's after school is $18 bucks an hour. Get me?

Also with down sizing your house you will not get a one bedroom rental if you are a family. No property manager alive ( believe me I am one) will present a family (mum, dad, kids) (mum+ kids) application to a owner of a one bedroom unit, its common sense.
(Assuming this is what people mean as I would assume if your facing prostitution/stripping you would have already exhausted your avenue of property ownership and no longer own or have the money for selling etc)

So I think those who have entered the prostitution or stripping field may need others to understand that the avenues we are so willingly stating we'd do ver and above being a prostitute are not as easy to get as you imagine.

And by no way have I been affiliated in prostitution or agree with it.. Like you a of exhaust every other avenue first before getting to that point.. I just wanted to make it a point that these avenues aren't always as easy to get as some have made out here..

    Definitely me too.

Prostitution for me would be the end of the rope.. Where I had done every single possible thing to help myself. I'd probably have lost my kids by this point because I would be homeless and moniless.

I wouldn't do it when there was options stills avail.

Prostitution is the world's oldest job for women.

I would never strip, but would do the sexy texting/phone calls & be part of an escort service (it would need to be lots of $$$).

I have a friend who was a receptionist at a brothel and the girls did earn good money, it wasn't as seedy as it sounds. The women in these jobs provide a much needed service.

TBH things wouldn't need to be life or death for me to consider it, but it certainly wouldn't be a long term solution. Nor would I ever be a hooker standing on the corner, it would have to be either a brothel or high end escort service.

I disagree with you here. It's not a much needed service, and maybe lots of men would be forced to treat women with respect and learn to communicate with them instead of thinking they can buy sex. The presumption is that men need sex and can't live with it out it. And that it's OK to commodity women to provide men with what they want.

I have known a few prostitutes, my sister was close friends with one, she worked in a legal brothel. Some of the men wanted really sick things, and it was still dangerous, even though they had security, some men would get violent.

Sexy texting maybe I'd do it. Phone calls no way, that's too close to prostitution for me.
Sorry, but I had a bit of a chuckle imagining VP sexy texting and using the word balls a lot :-)

It's sad that selling our bodies seems to be the fallback option for women. I wonder what men would say if you asked them...

It's a job you do, it doesn't define who you are or the value you have as a human being. People are much more than their jobs.
I disagree that it's the same thing.

Most people don't want to share their spouse sexually? Why is that? It's because sex is intimate and about as close as you can be physically to another, and also makes us vulnerable. Personally I'm fine with my SO hiring a builder to fix the house, but when we are apart and can't have sex, I'm not OK with him hiring a prostitute, because we all know its a very different situation.

Moeover, I've never seen download millions of videos of construction workers to use as masturbation fodder, and most women in the industry are not respected. Most Men don't want to be married to a prostitute, because they simply aren't valuing them as people as they should, however they will marry a dentist or receptionist etc.

I don't define prostitutes by their profession, but the majority of people do. In fact a woman who so much as has a few partners is often called shocking names, let alone prostitutes and strippers. I have heard of women in the sex industry described in the most vulgar terms, reducing them to the sum of their parts. To me it's just not OK and it's sad that women think of it as their best option. I'm not blaming the women, I'm blaming society.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the sex industry is not limited to heterosexual males seeking females.

Also, it's rather naive to think that the men utilising these services don't respect females.
What if you would NEVER get to experience sex the usual way? You would never feel the bodily reactions of stimulation? You would be curious, yes?
Because I know someone that lives this reality and if it weren't for a legal escort service, he would never have felt that at all... EVER!

The sex industry is not so black and white.
