Default Indecent exposure or attempted kidnap?

Have you been subject to someone indecently exposing themselves or attempted kidnap as a child? Or have things like this happened to your child?

Reason l ask is that as a child there were several incidents where l had men stop me in vehicles and ask for directions to somewhere like the train station then only to realise they were exposing their genitals or they would try to get me to get in the vehicle to show them how to get somewhere. This wasn't a once off thing it probably occurred around 4 -5 times.

I never reported any of the incidents as l would always be so shocked, and didn't even think to get the licence plate. The one time l told an adult was when a guy in a vehicle exposed himself and then drove off when l ran to a man mowing his front lawn. The man just told me to be careful walking home and let me carry on walking home.

I also didn't tell my parents as we had an odd (strained) relationship when growing up.

It haunts me now that those pigs could have gone on to actually kidnap other children. There was a case of a young girl being kidnapped a few suburbs away, she has never been found, and l've never forgotten her name.

Now that l have kids it worries me so much that there are animals like this out there that could just grab my child off the street but l also realise the best l can do is educate them when they are older about stranger danger.

Yes. I was 12 and walking with friends, and a guy exposed himself to us. I don't remember being scared, more shocked than anything. I can't remember what we did after that, but it was reported and discussed in assembly so kids knew what to do if it happened again.

This happened to me too, at the same age. I was shocked as well.

I was touched inappropriately in a crowded shop one day 3 times. I felt so sick and dirty afterwards.

I was walking to my dads car after school and walked past a car with a man and some dogs in it, he asked if I wanted to come to his car and see his puppies. Dad was watching though and called me over, I don't know if anything was done and I don't remember what dad said (I was very young maybe grade 1 or 2) but I know now it was definitely not right.

I haven't, but a young relative of mine was the victim of an attempted abduction last year.

The poor girl was approached on her way home from school and had to run for her life and hide in some bushes while the guy searched for her (he had a pillow slip to go over her head).

It's terrifying that there are people in this world who want to steal children.

I had a guy stop his car near me as I walked home in high school and ask if I wanted a lift. I said 'No, I live here' and then shouted out "DAD! PATRICK! I'm home!" the guy took off. Thank god it worked.
Its very scary that people out there want to take children. I may be called over protective but I don't leave my kids alone. I get them to their classrooms and back to our car every day. They don't walk alone. I'm sure they will want to start one day, but I'll fight that when it happens and until then keep them very close.

We had a creepy guy live across the road as kids. Cops could never pin anything regardless of numerous complaints of him attempting to grab little girls off the street, and answering his door naked. I remember him sitting in his car watching my little brother, I could see him, he couldnt see me, until I stoof up and walked towards my brother, he sped off like lightening.
