Default Help me make a mix tape :)

I want to make some mix tapes (well, cd's and ipod playlists...but that doesn't sound as good as mix tape lol) for my son...sort of the best of the 70's, 80's and 90's and would love some suggestions of songs you would put on them.

I loved the Cure and a lot of the new romantics stuff. I want to put some Australian stuff on there...The Clouds or Frente or The Divinyls. Wham...boy george...oh wow, so many...I feel overwhelmed with choice!

So hit me with some song lists...please

The possibilities are like endless O___O

    You could have:
    Karma Chameleon
    Pretty much anything from Queen
Rebel Rebel - David Bowie (or really any Bowie song )
    House of Fun - Madness
You Spin Me Round - Dead or Alive
Come on Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Lets Hear it For The Boy - Deniece Williams
    Tainted Love - Soft Cell
Rock the Casaba - The Clash
Sweet Child Of Mine - Guns n Roses (or Welcome to the Jungle)
Word up - Cameo (Although I prefer Korn's version)
Walk This Way - Aerosmith and Run DMC (Although there are several good Aerosmith songs you can add)
Living on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
    Pretty much anything AC/DC
    Pretty much any Michael Jackson
    INXS
    Aussie Crawl
    Hammer Time?

I can't really think of anything outside the 80s though Maybe Nirvana and those punkish sort of bands from the 90s hmm. I'm going blank now haha.

Mine loves Queen and The Beatles.

She also likes "Where the Wild Roses Grow," by Kylie Minogue and Nick Cave.
"More than Words," is another I have on my car's playlist that she likes.
DP has "Rock Lobster" on his and DD thinks that's the funniest song ever.
When we were kids we LOVED "Cows with Guns."
There's probably some decent Midnight Oil stuff he might like for Australian stuff.
Or go older... Skyhooks and stuff. Easybeats (like Friday on the Mind).
Informer by Snow? Because it's so weird and random. lol.
    Ice Ice Baby... lol.
You've got to have some naff in there! So... HAMMERTIME! as well. :P

    Or maybe things by...
Elton John (his more upbeat stuff I guess)
    The Who
    Prince
    Blondie
    Fleetwood Mac
    Bon Jovi
    Michael Jackson
    The Jackson 5

    these are awesome!

We have a pretty good collection...and my sister has the best collection ever (was a DJ through the 90's).

I am going to start trawling through and getting some together.

(oh, and yes there will absolutely be Hammer time rofl...this was the song we played over and over when I was an exchange student in Japan lol)

I am now singing "Call me" in my head lol

I want to get together about 4-5 hours of music...it feels like a huge task!
