I'll have to read it properly over the weekend, & some of the references. It's much more interesting than marketing *sigh*

I read it very briefly...its interesting that studies of 'inferile' women (i didn't look up their definition of infertile but obviously these women still ovulate) suggest side of ovulation affects ovulation in the next month but in 'normal fertile' women it is random (which side they o from).

I think the sample sizes are a bit low following two cycles of each woman isn't really much...my cycles that are next to each other are more likely to be similar than a recent cycle and a cycle i had five months ago, if that makes sense? But i guess not many people would volunteer to be tested for such a long time....all the ultrasounds & hormone tests etc.

If I didn't have heaps of my own studies to do I would have a look at those articles they reference that come to a different conclusion.

Yeah, I don't really have time for this when I'm behind on my reading for uni, but it is interesting. I thought the dataset was too small too. Also, it looks like they were only studying whether there were differences in hormone levels etc between women ovulating 2 cycles in a row from the same side to women ovulating 2 cycles in a row from a different side each cycle, rather than any differences in hormone levels depending on the side of ovulation (independent of previous cycle). I only read it briefly though, so may have misread it. If I'm right though, they should have studied at least 6 cycles (just a guess without doing the stats) to observe the same woman with both consecutive and alternating ovulation.

I want to check out the other papers too. I'll probably end up doing that instead of my reading on Sunday

No, I thought the exact same! I was thinking their sampling stradegy skewed their results to show no difference? Because they only looked at 'normal' fertile women...I'm not sure whether part of their criteria would be to consider only those with the same cycle length every month? I think it would be more informative to look at women who have cycle length that vary month-by-month, maybe by at least 2 days or something?

Also they excluded the women who had double ovulation (one from each side in the same month) but I think this would be interesting as if the side you o from had an effect on the other side then in double-ovulation the effect would likely be very different than in one-ovulation cycles?

Better get back to my own uni work
