Default The problem with kids shows...

.. is that I can't help but sit there and think of all the flaws in them when I watch them. Eg

Little Einsteins- They have a *rocket*. The thing *flies*. Why does it have to be a big drama when it has transformed into a boat and it's about to go over a waterfall? Fly, dammit, fly!

Max and Ruby- they live next door to their grandmother, so adults do exist in this world. Why, then, is Ruby who is clearly a child herself, portrayed as Max's primary care-giver? Why hasn't Grandma just moved in with them if there are no parents ever around?

Hilltop Hospital- well, this one just plain annoys me. Why make a soap opera type drama for kids? All the flirting and what not... drives me insane. I just don't get it.

Franny's Feet- magical shoes? Really? Out of all the objects in the world, it's shoes?

Gumball- How does Darwin, a fish, even fit into the family?! Are he and Gumball the same age? So, is then Darwin adopted?!

Adventure Time - . (I think the title is enough. Clearly these producers are high.)

I could go on and on... and might just as I think of more... especially if no one replies

Do you ever point out the flaws to yourself in your kids favourite tv shows? I'd love to know what they are- we can all be confused together!

Wait Adventure Time is actually a kids show? I only know of the adult fandom.

Well, it's on Cartoon Network during afternoon viewing.. so I can only assume it's aimed at kids. (Yes, older than mine, but I have a 13 y/o nephew who comes over often after school and watches it.)

... is that kids have imaginations and don't over think things, adults do. With respect - I don't think it's the TV's problem. Who not have magic shoes? What's wrong with Max and Ruby hanging with nanna next door?

I totally get that. This was just an attempt at a fun thread on an adult level. When the tv is on in my house, it's usually on kids shows. I hardly watch any tv aimed at adults, therefore this is where my mind wanders.

Not to be taken seriously, but just a place for others who think like me to join in and have a bit of a laugh in the process.

Yes I have always thought that the concept on Franny trying on other people's stinky shoes was totally gross. Lol..

How come Arthur has a pet dog that doesn't talk or act human when all of the other characters are talking animals?

My tv is always on abc kids unless the kids are in bed, however, I don't get to pay much attention to them. The only one I wonder about is how the hell does daddy pig walk on those legs? They are too skinny to hold anything up!

Haha, that made me giggle. I quite liked Peppa Pig until someone told me that Daddy Pig's head was a large penis. Never looked at him the same again.

I googled 'in the night garden' out of boredom once. The ideas it is based on is interesting.
This is from one of the writers

"We wanted to explore the difference between being asleep and being awake from a child's point of view: the difference between closing your eyes and pretending to be asleep and closing your eyes and sleeping."
