Default Have referral for FS - what to expect at the first appointment?

My DH had a vasectomy reversal last year and it was successful in regards to sperm coming through again, however, it's been 12 months and his count is still low (5 million) and the forward progression is also poor.

As far as I know, I have no reproductive issues. I have been tracking my cycles for about 6 months and have a clear rise in BBT after ovulation (plus good ewcm), my luteal phase is generally 13 days and there's not much variance in overall cycle length. I haven't taken any birth control in nearly 3 years.

We have been given a referral to a fertility clinic, so we'll be making an appointment shortly - I'm just wondering what to expect stepping into this rather scary new world for the first time??

    Hi Arlais,

I hope this post isnt too late.
From my experience - the first appointment is going through your medical history. The specialist gave me a chart to monitor my temperture and also had blood test to check when ovulation is.
I was then put on clomid to help with ovulation. I was on clomid from Nov 2011 to May 2012 with no success.

They will probably suggest another sperm analysis 3 months apart from your previous one. Go through your medical history. Might order you for an pelvic ultrasound, day 3 and day 22 blood tests.
With 5 million sperm your not gonna get offered IUI. They will probably say check the sperm again and if it comes back the same straight to IVF.

My hubby's last test was 7 million. And we're waiting on a follow up sperm test, karyotype chromosome blood test and hormone blood tests. I had a pelvic ultrasound and bloods b4 the first appointment.

They usually schedule u for about a 30min appointment but we were in and out in about 20 mins. Told to make the next appointment for 6 weeks.

Thanks for replying ladies, appt is on the 28th so not too late :-)

We're ttc after a vasectomy reversal Feb last year. Technically it was successful as DH is having sperm coming through, but because it was 14 years since it was originally returning to full production isn't likely. It has only gone up 1 million since his 3 month analysis post VR.

I've been tracking my cycles and temping for about 6 months and everything seems fine with me, ovulating, etc, so I'm hoping with all that info we'll be able to skip through some waiting time and get to business.
