    Default Cubby house essentials...

Forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong place...

We are building DS1 a huge cubby house for his 5th birthday. We're repurposing an old tv cabinet into a play kitchen to go in it, we have a table and chairs, a set of plastic drawers for storage and it will have a wall that is painted in chalkboard paint...

I am after any other ideas any one has of what else is essential/good to put in a kids cubby house? I want some ideas for small gifts I can wrap up for him to open up the morning of his birthday...

Sooo, throw your ideas this way please

    Craft supplies.
Maybe some decorations he can put up himself?
That's all I can think of right now

Maybe some dressups? A coat rack with coats/hats/bags

A plastic picnic set for his kitchen so he can have real food in there on his own little plates etc.

A telescope out the window, so as he gets older and too cool for cubbies he can still use it as a spy base or something.

Kids broom, dustpan and brush (they love to sweep out the cubby house...other times you have to tell them to give it a tidy lol)

I've done a tv cabinet to kitchen thingy so if you want any ideas or suggestions on that I'd be happy to help.

Most important step is to sand it back first so the paint will stick!! Then make sure you use an undercoat first.

Thanks but its actually already finished just waiting to go in the cubby house the night before his birthday (walls of cubby all made, just being stored in garage so he cant see it etc)

Hubby is a panel beater and spray painter, so the kitchen actually got a full spray job
