    Default ct scans??

    Anyone had one? What do they do? Can I go on my own? Thanks in advance

    Yes, years ago, but I assume the are still done the same way.
    You lay on a sliding bed-type platform which slides through the circular scanner.
    Completely non-invasive. No reason to take anyone with you.

    I've had one. I had dye injected and had to come back 40mins later. You have to lie still for the whole scan. I had a whole body one so the scanner moved up, down and around the body. Can't remember how long I was lying there for but it feels like forever cause you have to be really still. It's not painful. You should be fine to go on your own. No one will be allowed into the scanner room with you anyway. You'll need to take off any metals (jewellery and remove your bra because of the underwire). Place I've been to had lockers for your valuables but best to just leave them at home.

    Subbing - does anyone who has had one know if CT scans have alot of radiation? What is the difference between a CT scan & an X-ray?
