Default *Spin off* What makes a bogan a bogan?

    Any why?

This is a legit question since some seem to throw the word around so casually

I tend to assume somebody is a bogan if they are talking very loudly in a public space about something they should be whispering!

The Melbourne zoo on school holidays is prime bogan-viewing.

Wiki's description is what I would describe a bogan as. Can't say I've ever used the term but have definitely heard it many times!

    Bogan
For other uses, see Bogan (disambiguation).
The term bogan is Australian and New Zealand slang, usually pejorative or self-deprecating, for an individual who is recognised to be from an unsophisticated background or someone whose speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour exemplifies a lack of manners and education. While bogan is widely recognised, localised names exist that describe the same or very similar groups of people.

This is what I believed the meaning to be. Perhaps those who so freely throw the word around are the uneducated ones

Me either! The definition has become so fuzzy.

I used to own a strider, my daughter has her ears pierced AND I've put headbands on my babies *sigh*...no coffee table though!
