He was very p*ssed off obviously! To this day I still have problems with my ears. I can only where certain metals or else my ears get infected and no matter what, if I don't wear earrings 24/7 my skin grows back over the holes and I have to poke through every time I want to wear earrings. I rarely wear earrings because of all this as they more often hurt than not.

I personally wouldn't pierce my daughters ears until maybe 8-12 years old (if she was asking).
Similar happened to me but I was 15 and had just gotten the top of my ear pierced, I don't know why but it got so infected in the space of a few hours and my ear swelled over the jewellery and had to be cut open in the ER to get it out! Scary to think of that happening to a baby, your Dad must have been so freaked out.

I've learned since I've moved here that 'bogan' is such a broad term. DH used to say it all the time when we lived in London and I sort of understood but once I moved here it became clarified. I can't even describe a bogan, you just know one when you see one . Some friends visited from the states last year and they were curious about this term, I had a hard time explaining it but then one day we were at a cafe and one said 'I think I've found a bogan!' I overheard the horrible voice and far too-loud/far too-personal tacky storytelling and confirmed that yes, he had indeed found a bogan.

I think he's never forgiven my mom! . That'd be so awful to have to do to your baby!
