    Default Hi all. Quick question.

Does anyone know if we go private in a public hospital, do we have to pay the ob l&d fee if she's doesn't actually make it? Not asking to be rude, it's just a lot of money and hubby was asking.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
As far as I know, it's a yes. They usually work with a few other obs as a team for that particular reason.

That was how it worked with my ob, but it could be different for others obs.

    Good luck!

I think it depends on your cover and which ob you go with as they only have certain hospitals they use. my cover allowed me to pick the ob and if he practiced at a public hospital that was all covered. I have to pay for all the out patient appointments though

I had a private OB at a public hospital but my c section was done by his trainee and I paid nothing. His trainee had finished all of his hours and supervision etc but was waiting for paperwork to come thru to up him from a registrar to a consultant so I was more than happy to get a qualified OB for free
