You read it that way but nowhere did i say that "only pro choice find hearing about abortions upsetting". Clearly that is not the case and only an idiot would think that!

I was merely saying that just as ones who have had an abortion find it distressing to read, ones who are pro life (like im guessing cinderella is) may find it just as distressing.

Its distressing for all to read in summary.
I understand you didn't see the comment, hence why it was frustrating to somebody like me when you said you'd felt she'd been sensitive.

I'm sorry if I misunderstood your comment. I took it as you saying pro-choicers get upset hearing about terminations and that pro-lifers get upset hearing about people's experiences.

I was stating anyone, no matter the side, would have been upset by the comment.

I don't find it at all distressing. I've had an abortion and I'm pro-choice I am not ignorant about how they occur. What I do find distressing is being told what I can and can't do with my uterus. I find it distressing because I have been in situations where I have not been in control of it and the thought of going back there terrifies me.

Just to clarify a few things with facts. They are facts because they are my personal experience, reality! A 'termination' done from approx 16weeks up to 24weeks is done as stated earlier in the thread, labour induced. Generally the baby does not survive the trauma of birth, but in instances where it does, no treatment is given to save its life. Post 24weeks (on the grounds of medically unviable) the baby is given an injection to stop its heart. In VIC, not only do 2 drs have to sign off on it, but the mother has to be psychologically evaluated, spoken to several specialists so that she is fully aware of what her options are if she chooses to not have the injection, and then it all goes to an ethics committee who discuss the case (this was put in place to avoid the issues and public outcry that happened with the termination regarding dwarfism). The other options are for comfort care, pain relief, no feeds etc. and wait for your baby to pass. Or choose for medical intervention and wait.
Also another thing to consider in LTA abortions is the majority of people get a bad diagnosis at 19weeks, but if they give themselves time, get different opinions etc. speak to many different people, then they easily get to that post 24weeks point.
I know this has nothing to do about the original post being termination for sex selection, but some seemed very confused about the process of LTA so wanted to she'd some light on my personal knowledge when faced with an incompatible with life diagnosis late term.
It sounds horrible in theory which previous posters have stated makes them pro-life. But more than theory needs to be considered.

Yes i agree and i think that is the case with some to a certain degree (re my comment) so you still seem to be misunderstanding me. But i wasnt saying ONLY pro choicers get upset about details of terminations just as not only pro lifers would get upset about experiences.

Gah im too tired and im not sure im even making sense anymore.

    Bad day....

Interesting I haven't read the links contained but I've just read a government website that states that Vic is the only state that publishes its abortion figures and that the only other states that collect abortion statistics are WA and the NT. so where do they get the information from QLD from? It also states that Medicare does not distinguish between abortion and other medical procedures.
