    Hi Muzzy,

Local adoption costs nothing at all. I can't be surenut I've heard that international adoption costs quite a bit.

You can never research too much!

    Cheers Macks

My partner and I are looking into adopting.
    Hi Lighter,

Not long at all. We finished training around the middle of last year and were approved December last year so a pretty quick process for us.

    All the best, Macks

I was adopted as a baby (many) years ago and it was truly the best thing that ever happened to me. It bugs me when people refer to my biological mother (who I am immensely grateful to for making an incredibly difficult choice for me) my "real mother". Real mothers and fathers are the ones who look after you during the night when you are sick, who hold your hand on your first day at school, who teach you about life and who make you feel loved and important.

Years ago, I found a painted tile in a drawer that my mum probably had for years...it had this little poem on it:

    "Not flesh of my flesh
    Nor bone of my bone
    but still Miraculously my own.

Never forget for a single minute
You did not grow under my heart
    but in it."

Be happy with your little darling.
    Beautiful Jellybeanicecream - love it.

    Thank you

Ah wow! I was under the impression that it costs thousands! Can I ask what is the process of adoption? Thanks so much for taking time to reply :-)

No worries Muzzy. I did the same thing and last night I realised I responded to soemone who was talking to soemone else. So embarrassing!

I think international adoption can cost several thousands but local adoption costs nothing but your time. You can get in touch with DHS who will forward you to your nearest agency
    http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/for-indivi...permanent-care
or if you know the agency you want to go through (there are several) you can contact them direct and they will talk about the next steps. We went through Catholicare and they were lovely.

    Cheers, Macks

Macks sorry for all the questions, I know that you have to be off fertility treatment for 6months but can you start any application process while doing Ivf? Can you do Ivf after you have had approval? What kind of questions do you get asked?
