    Default Egg Donation in Greece

    Hi everyone.
Spoke to Dr Kanakas yesterday. He is pretty good at making me feel comfortable and relaxed. I had a few questions and he made sure I was happy. I started the progynova yesterday. It feels so strange only taking this one medication (for now) when doing my own egg cycles I was rattling up to my eyeballs with meds.
I'm hoping that I don't get any of the mood swings that I've read are side effects. It's out of character for me and makes me feel like a nut!!

I hope you're all well and that yasna you are traveling along beautifully.

And brimrush, I hope we get a chance to meet up in Athens. We will be there from the 30th of June to 15 of July.

I hope everyone else is well and staying warm if you're in brissie. Xxx

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone is getting concerned re the financial situation Greece is in with the EU? Is there any school of thought that this could make things more expensive (if they have to leave the Eurozone) or reduce services? It seems it is getting to crisis point..,

    Hi All

Seems like things have been quiet for a few days. Well, I hope everyone is doing well.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is Father's Day here and its a sad day for me because Father passed away in 2007. He was a great Dad and I have alot of good memories but its hard on a day when everyone is recognizing their Father and celebrating, etc. especially when you add to it that there are no children in our house to celebrate my husband. Oh well, the dog will give him extra licks tomorrow!

We went to see Marinella a Greek singer last night and we were talking to some people. When asked if we had children I responded no and the husband said, well my Mom always said "its a blessing to have children and its a blessing not to have children". I thought that was an interesting statement. On the way home I asked my husband if he believed we were toying with what was meant to be (messing with our "blessing") by trying to have a baby with a donor when we couldn't on our own. He said, "if we end up having a baby, then that was what was meant to be and it will definitely be a blessing, just one that took a long time to reveal". Needless to say, I agree!!

We are watching what's happening over in Greece and I guess we'll just have to see what happens. I'm concerned about the run on the banks. The news said private citizens and businesses were taking out their money. I hope the clinics are able to continue operations without any hitches.

BTW, I checked and thee are no public holidays in Greece listed for Sept and Oct. The last big one is Aug 15. That's good news for those of us planning on going then!!

I had my pelvic/vaginal ultrasound and did my blood work Results should be in next week. I hope the uterus looks good and healthy. I had a myomectomy in 2006 and really do not want to deal with fibroids and such again. Fingers crossed!! DH to do his blood work and semen analysis in about 10 days. I'm taking the Provera and hoping AF arrives at end of month like its supposed to so we will remain on track.

Okay everyone, I'm gonna sign off. Stay well and safe and be positive!!!!

Hi ladies, sorry I haven't been online much since coming back to Oz.

Wow there seems to be a lot of activity going on! Congratulations to all the mummy's-to-be who have been successful in their overseas treatments, all the best to those who are about to embark on the adventures and for those who have not yet been successful - don't give up hope and keep trying!!

As per my previous posts I had a lot of issues with my progesterone levels and unfortunately as my body doesn't absorb pesseries or tablet It turns out I can only absorb through IM injection. I made the mistake of leaving greece without stocking up on the prontogest injections required for the first 3 months. I left greece 6am the morning after my transfer and it was only when I arrived in Spain that afternoon I found out I couldn't purchase the injections in Australia or Spain & I only had 1 months supply. I contacted countless Australian pharmacies who all responded back advising only peseries were available back home so did some further research whilst in Spain and read that the Utrogestan is a much better pesserie than some of the brands available back home so I didn't want to repeat my mistake again and get home to limited and very costly options so we stocked up on 3 months supply of utrogestan as I was told once my injections run out if I take 6 times the normal dose of pessaries my body should absorb enough to get me through.

Since coming home I have finally found a sterile compounding pharmacy that thankfully made me up my injections yesterday, just in the nick of time as I had just run out.

I have approximately 25 brand new unopened boxes of Utrogestan 200mg Pessaries/Capsules.
In Europe these cost us for 10€ pwr box (which contains 15 pessarie/capsules)- you can do your research but I believe this is still considerably cheaper than brands available here in oz & I read some women found these less harsh than brands available here.

If anyone is short of progesterone pessaries and requires any please PM me.

I also want to mention again how grateful we are to the lovely Penny and her team at Serum. We are 9 weeks pregnant this week with twins and it would not have been possible without the love, support and help from Penny, we will always be eternally grateful xx

Hi Chillout, yeah I have wondered the same thing myself. We paid a little extra to have our remaining embryos put on ice and I had an afterthought similar to you wondering what would happen & where would we stand if things turned for the worse over there and clinics closed however, I really think the main clinics over there are really thriving and viable businesses. They seem to have the demand and women from around the world travel there for treatment so I'm sure it will all be just fine xx

Hi Girls thanks for the updates. Im having my tubes removed Wednesday. Dr Nikos said that would have reduced my chances 60 % being blocked. Makes me angry that fertility specialists here are not dealing with these issues prior to taking our money.
We are still planning for late Sept and Im watching the news. I hope all you girls in 1st trimester stay safe and healthy.

Aw - I missed it! Will check to see if it's coming on again and see if I can record it. Is that show a one off or a series?

    Heavens, QUADS! Terrifying!!!

I think it's unlikely the clinics would close - I think it's more likely to impact the currency we pay with, and perhaps reduce the cost of things, at least initially. I wouldn't be paying for any accommodation etc in advance at this stage ...
